I have come into the possession of what looks like full Mitsubishi service manuals for their engines and gearboxes in pdf format, I don't know loads about the different engines etc but it has 17 different engine types, I looked at the 6A13 engine, there is 79 pages on that alone, similar amounts on the others, there is service bullitins, 118 pages on engine electricals, details about carburetors, MPI and diesel. There are also loads of different transmissions that are covered, with pretty much over 100 pages on each section. Does anyone know the F number of the vr-4 transmissions? eg F4A4, F4A5. Oh, and every manual comes in English, Spanish and Swedish.

I'm guessing this might be of some use to people? Dunno If WRD could find use of it. Maybe people have already have it. It's too big to e-mail (400MB) but if people really want it I'm sure we can work something out.

Here are some screen grabs:

Nice find JayJay.

The VR-4 transmission is a W5A51. The ones starting 'F' are FWD only - the 2WD GLS and V6-24 box is F4A42.

Nice find, do any of them relate to the turbo version of the 6A13, all the ones Ive found only refer to the NA version which has a higher compression ration (9 or 9.5) compared to the Turbos 8.5

Kieran, you're wrong, the real VR-4 transmission is W5M51, the W5A51 is a block of cheese with 5 gears :)

Great find Jay, I'm keen to see the whole lot!

Sorry for the delay in replying just got in, I'm not sure if it has got the VR-4 gearbox, they all seem to be FF or FR, I've attached a pic of the gearbox page, there's a few gearboxes in each. Barry, I was thinking of something for the site, quite a bit of info there. Zentac, I can't see a reference to the turbos and it does say 9.5 Europe and HK and 9.0 GCC and Export, but if that's the only difference there should be some useful stuff.

What do the (E-W) and (W-E) stand for?

east - west or west - east.

If you look at 6g/7g galants and evo1-3 they had the engine on the passenger side, and the gearbox on the driver side. Then in the mid 90's mitsi decided the best way was engine on the drivers side and trans on the passenger side. Not too sure which one they determine is east - west and which is west - east though.

Right, I've stripped the manuals to get rid of other languages and help documents and got them as small as I can (about 60MB each) and have uploaded them to RapidShare, you can download them from the following links.

Mitsubishi Engines (http://rapidshare.com/files/19423678/Mitsubishi_Engines.rar)

Mitsubishi Transmissions (http://rapidshare.com/files/19426406/Mitsubishi_Transmissions.rar)

This is the first time I have used rapidshare so if it don't work let me know.

The download worked fine.

The manuals you have posted are not for the VR4. However still good stuff and thanks for sharing. the engine manual which is most suitable 6A1X is already in the members area.

Cheers anyway Dave
