OMG and we moan about a few holes

This is Russian Federal highway Moscow city - Yakutsk City, named “Lena”, nowadays.
The road doesn’t have asfalt surface, though it is a Federal, vital highway.
Everytime it rains the road gets paralized, these shots are made a few days before the traffic jam for 600 cars got stuck there. Hunger and lack of the fuel followed, according to the witnesses. One woman gave a born to a child right in the public bus she was riding.
Construction team afraids to appear on site because during their previous visit it was beaten by people who stuck in the jam for a few days. People breaking the locks on the trucks, in a search of food and warm cloths.
Fuel, food, firearms and steel tow-line are the things that are needed most these days on this Federal highway.

I guess I haven't seen all of Russia yet, but federal roads near major cities are nothing like that... prob this is an "under construction" section of some road...

Our country spans 11 time zones... My state (Krasnoyarskii Krai) is 3 Frances in size... think about that for a moment...

I live on a small island 3 miles off britain (30miles x 40 miles) so to try and comprehend the scale of a state 3 times the size of france is kinda tricky!

Personally i think Kieran would nee therapy for quite a while just seeing that!

My point is... those pictures are as shocking to Russians... I've never seen anything like that in my entire life and I live in Siberia! Sometimes I make trips between local cities (400-1000 km one way) using those Federal roads mentioned above and to my knowledge there are no "unpaved" sections that look that bad!

TBH Valmes, i suspect this is one of those urban myths type things and i doubt that its indicative of the roads in russia in general TBH.
More like the roads where i live in winter !! /pan

I agree with Valmes - you can't really judge an entire country based on a few specific pictures - but it makes good viewing none the less.

Opps, sorry I've made a little mistake... it's 4,5 times bigger than France and around 10 times bigger than UK. :)
