Been investigating why my rears tyres are wearing fast and why the rears feel like they've hit a big pot-hole when going over a small bump.

Found nothing out of the ordinary, except the passenger rear shock seem to be angled on the arms compared the the rear driver side.

Does this look OK? e.g. the the gap between the bolt and the shock is at a slight angle.

it is nothing bad as such and I don't think the possible height difference from that slight bend is worth worrying about as the cars probably end up worse off from poor weight distribution of passengers anyway. :)

So, yes it looks fine!

The shock sits on a metal collar anyway - when you undo the bolt, you usually have to give the bottom of the shock a gentle tap to 'pop' it off the collar - so yeah, as Ken says, I wouldn't worry about the bolt angle.

What state are the rear toe control arms in (the ones with balljoints)? Have you tried a 4 wheel alignment to see if the wear is down to the rear tracking being out?

Thanks guys.

had it 4 wheel tracked on some geometry machine in Southampton.
And it was almost perfect just out but a thickness of a human hair. They were afraid of snapping some kind of asymmetric bolt in the rears ?!? and you can't adjust the camber on the wheels....so have to live with slight wearing of tyres?

Everything else seems fine. Hopefully it isn't a busted shock?

It may be a good idea to get your shocks checked by a suspension specialist. For safety at least.
