Finally good news on the purple VR-4 and the Autronic

Last week on thursday and friday Gary Capper, a guy called Peter who works on the north shore building race engines and forging, and who used to be the Ralliart guru for everything Autronic, Randall from the Autronic distributor and an automotive electrician worked on my car for basically the entire two days and have got everything sorted, apart from a minor issue with the ecu turning the fans off (once hot it starts them running, but doesn't stop them again when on the motorway) and some final tuning and dyno runs, and it's all done.

Been nearly a year now, might be a good idea not to plan anything much in the way of mods for a while so you get to drive it!

well, took it for a drive today, it accelerates so hard that the handbrake lever has enough momentum to come up high enough to make the handbrake light come on. It also rubs on the guards when you nail it in 2nd gear, I figure it's dropping the arse by about 30mm to do this.

Unfortunately one of the muppets putting all the piping back on last week when they were cleaning it up broke the compressor output pipe on the rear turbo, so I've given Gary my modified turbos to install into the car.

yeah he's going to weld the turbo thats been cracked, and I'll have another 2 spare turbos :)

It also retards the timing heavily when you lift off, so it sounds like a rally car, making tons of pops and backfires. The main street of pukekohe didn't like me much today :) I think I set off EVERY car alarm on the street. It's especially cool when the two exhausts pop in sync with each other.

I planted it coming out of an intersection and did a quick change from 2st to 2nd, at which point I noticed that the handbrake light kept coming on when I hit the power, thats how much kick it has!

that usually means that your brake fluid is low :P

The handbrake physically moved about 10mm upwards when I changed gear, I looked at it later on. Probably just a loose cable, but it was damned cool :)
