I have aquired some training material used in the US army to train their recruits to be able to understand, fix and maintain motor vehicles.

It starts off explaining different types of engines, then goes onto valve configurations, a short test then carries on through all sections in the same manner until all 15 sections are completed and you understand how every bit of a car works.

It's very cool for newbies who have maybe access to manuals but dont wuite understand the underlying fundamentals of what is going on. It starts from scratch then gets more technical the more you understand. A great reference if anyone for example asks you "So how does an auto transmission actually work?"

If anyone wants it, I can get it to you, maybe put if on the resources section if the club wants it.

Is it a bit like howstuffworks.com?

nah, a bit better than that, in that it doesn't leave you asking questions afterwards like howstuffworks.

Its a bit like a generic car 'Bible', so for example in the suspension section it will show you the different types, their pro's and cons. It does this for the whole vehicle in a group of pdf's

I'll see if I can get one hosted tonight and you can take a look
