i was told the VR4 is V for V6, R for Ralliart Derived, and 4 for 4 wheel drive.

could be wrong though.

I thought VR4 meant Viscous Realtime 4WD

Hmmm. Most Japanese websites I've seen follow the 'Victory Road' nomenclature.

Got the "Viscous Realtime 4WD" from a 3000GT VR4 website... 3si.org

We have a different style of transfer case as well.

I've heard Victory Rally and Victory Road a few times as well. It's also worth mentioning there are VR-G's, VR-M's and VR's, although those might be just playing on the VR-4 name.

I was initially confused with the VR designation as the VR is actually a type of engine. Instead of being 60 degrees of angle, there is only 5 degrees. It's what VW joined together to make their W motors.

Then when I saw the 6A13 motor, I realised that this wasn't the case. So there went my idea of strapping two together lol

Oh and welcome to CVR4 ;) I've learned so much here so far and I've hardly asked a thing...this site is chockas!!!

VW even made a car badged VR6, I'd be quite keen for one of those badges, just to confuse a few people :D
