For those of us with concerns about the VR-4, may I introduce to you three other japanese models that may well fit the bill. Some come with 4WD and all are specified with a 145bhp/140lb/ft 2.0 GDI Unit.

Firstly, we have the Galant VE. Entry Level and not very nice. It's so unpopular, it's a BTO car!

Then there's the Galant VR-G. Somewhat nicer. Optional 4WD.

And finally, the most interesting variant. The Viento. As far as I can tell, this looks to be a VR-4 Minus the 6A13tt and AYC. But it's still 4WD and has the VR-4 styling and interior cues...

The diesels were, until at least 2000 for sure, sold in Ireland but never here as far as I know. Its a 2.0l INSERT INTO post VALUES (not sure if its a turbo-diesel but think it must be)

A company I used to work with over there had a 'fleet' of six of them, and they all 'ate' the boxes - new box every 30k

But the first Galant I drove was a friends Diesel, so they're not all bad.

seen a P reg VR-G galant last night - was behind it on the traffic jams on the M8 heading into glasgow - i think he was heading for the rangers game...

It had a rear wash wiper and looked similar to the pre facelift VR4 - could not tell if it was 4wd - couldnt see anything obvious on the rear end...

Only other badge was a GDi badge so assume it was a 2.0 or 2.4???

looked nice in silver though!

Just realised those were links in Kieran's post - doh! :drunk:

The Viento certainly looks a nice car, hmmm - suicide seat.

I wonder is it like the ejector seat in Thunderball - that was the Goldfinger one wasn't it? INSERT INTO post VALUES (show my ignorance of all things bond and probably went for the wrong movie)
