Mine is not as bad as yours, but i do get the shudder every now and then, cleaning the release bearing as recommended and done by SubaruETA helped quite a bit, but you can still tell its not right. It might be enough to get you moving again while you source a new one though.

yep, gunna be a mitsibushi tranant from now on, the plan was for any straight through box, and the best i could find for bore etc was a transit one, and its got loads of pipe on it aswell, for our other custom exhausts

cheers for the links ill have a read through them :)

Do I understand you correctly - you are going to fit a Transit exhaust pipe to your Galant at the same time that you are going to repair your gearbox? - and have a lot of exhaust piping left that you can use to fabricate some other custom made exhaust pipes (eg. for the type 3 VW)

the backbox doesnt matter what the hell its from, a straight through box is a straight through box at the end of the day, its not having the whole exhaust of a transit put on, just the centre box......weve got a XR3i with a granada box on it, a vw transport/aa van with an fto centre section in it, an escort van with a few boxes missing.......it doesnt matter what the hell the exhaust is from at all, a rear box is a rear box at the end of the day.......and it will be done this weekend,....gearbox will be done soon, gotta be done before the end of the month, going to big bang which is at santapod, and get a qaurter mile time..........
and you couldnt use the pipe from the transit to on a fastback, or really any stock vw the bore of a flat four is tiny.......

but more importantly whats different between doing the clutch on aVR4 and non VR4, is there anything i dont have to take off?
