Paul is a bit of a detailing god, but is still happy to share advice and experience. He doesn't do too badly out of it either!

That looked fantastic when they had finished.

Just one question, what is 'claying' and what does it achieve?

Unfortunately, I don't think anything on there will be news to Kieran. It honestly takes an entire weekend for him to clean his car, using about 73 different products! And that's providing it doesn't rain, and isn't too sunny!

Do you feel sorry for me yet? :)

Amazing. Absolutely stunning work.

Claying is using a clay bar to take all the dirt and deposits out of the paint before you apply the wax. I've got a Meguiars clay bar and I was amazed the stuff it took out of the paint.

yeah....claying removes deposits that would normally not be caught when washing...you would use a clay bar with a detaielrs..i use Mothers Clay Bar b4 i wax....it really takes out alot of residue and "seals the paint" b4 you apply the wax.

It is good to see that some people on here appreciate the subtle and exact art that is car washery. I am indeed tempted to sticky this, but i've just tried the link and that website's had so many hits it's exceeded it's bandwidth:speechles

If you wish to learn more though - this is my bible:

Seeing as you are away from home and the above link isn't working..... here is a similar one with the same dude to keep you in the loop ( yawn) ...

I lost interest after the pressure washer - but you might like it.....

Not sure if she would want to watch the washing the car bit though.

Getting a bit cheeky now, eh! Sorry.

Actually I would enjoy a trip to the UK too. Car washing or no car washing.

"Like this Kieran? I've dipped the broom in the washing up liquid."

"Aaaaargh! No! How many times. Leave it I'll wash the cars myself, here's some money, go and buy shoes"

It is nice of them to occasionally let us think we're in charge though.

Where's this 'goodies' thread anyway. I want to see new toys.

As for the weather, Homebase do a very cheap car sized gazebo to keep the rain/sun off when polishing. Just secure it properly so you don't come home from work to find it wedged against your neighbours car.
