Battery

I need to change the battery in my newly bought VR4.
Any suggestions which one to buy? Where?
Wouldn't there be any problem with ECU, Stereo if I disconnect the old battery?

Hi nevman. Was going to welcome you in your first post, but I thought I'd do it here instead. /Welcome2

Battery wise; The last time I went to Halfrauds, they didn't have one our size. Said they could order one, but your better off getting youself to a parts specialist such as PartCo. (A company where I live. Halfords wanted to charge me £95. This company charged me £40).

RE; the ECU. As long as you can change it withing 10 mins, you should be fine. If not, I wouldn;t worry about it. If its an auto trans then you may find it a bit weird at first, until the gearbox starts to learn again. But otherwise its all good.

Many of us quote different times to 'reset' the ECU. Personally I believe that if power is disconnected for more than a minute it will reset - maybe even less.

It will almost certainly reset if you change your battery, however, that may not be a bad thing anyway. After reconnecting, try driving as you mean to drive normally - the fuzzy logic will adapt and 'remember' your particular style. You will almost certainly experience a difference in comparison to before you changed battery. This may last as long as 200 miles so don't worry if it still seems 'odd' after a couple of brief trips.

You will lose your preset radio stations unless you have a 'face-off' radio but it probably has some other way of retaining them - check the radio manual.

It is ELITE 3. Won't it be triggered if I disconnect the battery? How to prevent it?

kwick fit stock batterys for ours , sensible price as well , but the cheapest seems to be mitsubishi dealers

If you disarm the alarm before you change the battery, you'll be fine - My two UK Galants had the Elite3 alarm - it can cope with a battery change just fine.
