It's a very easy conversion to do, I did this myself in june 05'.

So do you need to fab new seat brackets then or can you do it out of the two seats you have?

Cheers,

Ben.

I used the ones from the Galant, Basically all I did was modify the bracket on the base of the Galant seats and used the framework from the FTO seats.
So the squabs (sp?) would fit straight on and I could still use the factory sliders etc....

I can get a pair of FTO seats for 50gbp! bargain.

Thats a pretty damn good price, mine cost the equivilent of about 75gbp.

I'd also like to add, that my galant is a 7g btw, so to put them into an 8g it would be a similar if not easier process.

Do they do them in tan leather?

Goku

No, You'll have to re-trim them to suit your vehicle.

Sorry, I should have made more of an effort to sound sarcastic. I figured they wouldn't do them in tan anyway.
If I were to retrim I think I'd do it in black and get the rear seats doen too. I'd have preffered black in the first place but could only find tan. This is looking to be a plan though as they are very light ;)

FTO seats never came with leather, but, if you speak to David at Rice Rocket he will sort you out with both seats, and if you want he also sells leatherette seat conversions.

Now that sounds tat i know, and when i first heard of it i was very sceptical (i'm thinking 1970's vauxhaul viva) but i've seen lots now and they are very good!

Cheers,

Ben.

the seats look pretty good, was thinking about evo seats but a bit pricey and never seem to see them in the colour i like, or they are miles away.

i have a set of black leather 9000 aero seats but think they might be too heavy for the car, dont want to slow it down lol.

still not sure to fit them or sell them, tho weight wise i would rather fit evos or something else with less weight, tho the saab 9000 aero seats are the best seats i have sat in in any car for comfort and class.

stu, I second you there. I was temptd myself as we asso have a 9000. I don't car about the weight, it's worth it for the comfort!

Old thread revival but here goes:

I've purchased set of FTO seats and I'll be fitting them to the 8G subframes, does anyone know which bracket needs to be modified to get the seats to fit, is it pretty intuitive?

I've recovered FTO seats myself in the past and its labourious but not difficult, I'll be recovering this set in an effort to get a close match to the rears.

I've been driving FTOs for years and I've always found the seats comfortable. While I would say the same about the stock Galant seats, they are seriously lacking in support (which was much more evident on a recent trackday outing).

Take the passenger seat out and see how close the FTO ones are to fitting....

I hear on an 8g they are really similar in the bolt pattern.

Has anyone out there had the rear Galant VR-4 seats retrimmed by someone who might still have the template and would be willing to ship? Ricerocket doesn't do Galant rears and I don't want to mess up the interior with different colour covers. Still have the FTO seats in the dining room taking up space :thumbsdow

As the thread was being resurrected I thought I should mention I tried the 9000 Aero seats in the VR4 but unfortunately the winged bacs are too wide to pass the B-Pillars and thus interfere with the seatbelt.

Seems, that nobody here fit FTO front seats into 8G VR4...:pimp2:
Well, just bought pair for 40 GBP and todays afternoon had time to compare passenger seats subframes.
Honestly, hell a lot of work, but could be done:
- VR4 space between rails is approx. 6cm wider.
- Rails could be swaped (rivets to cut off to slide it off) so space between each mounting point on each rail is saved.

Have no time right now, but consider few scenarios:
1. to change whole subframe (but VR4 subframe is about 5 cm wider and FTO thin cushions may look funny is such big frames)
2. swap gliding both rails, then leave untouched that one on door side, and make 5 cm distances from thick metal plate
3. as in point 2, but make distance plates on both rails (smaller plates).

Need more, time, but I'm gonna make some photo shots whilst progress.

Any help from any1 who made it is welcome.
