Strange idle revs - HELP!

There is something strange going on with idle revs. On hot engine (as I do a lot of short runs a day (sometimes even up to 20 within 3 hours !!!)) when I start it, the engine can't really come on proper idle revs. The revs are jumping between 250 - 600 and it doesn't accelerate properly. I have the feeling that engine is going to stall. When I shut it down and re-start it after few seconds everything comes back to normal.
Has any of you come across that thing? Is it something major? How to get a rid of it?
Please help cause I am a bit worried.

It's so difficult if you're newbie and have no facility to do anything on your own...
Thanks for advise. I'll pass those clues to my mechanic when I am in Poland. I hope it's nothing major and I can run the car for around 2k miles before someone can look at this?
