the torque convertor on a 96 vr4..............is the one from a 98 v6 galant compatable?? got the chance of one for £50. is there any way of finding out if they are worn out, and can you restore them in any way?? :iloveyou:

very doubtful that they are the same , and to be honest with out a full machine shop and some spare parts theres not a lot you can do with the buggers

The V6 ones are known for stripping their splines as they get old or if they've been abused - even on standard cars. Not all of 'em do it, but enough have that Jpat (an autobox parts supplier and remanufacturer) class it as a 'known fault'.

So even if one did fit a VR-4, it probably wouldn't cope very well with the extra grunt! :oops:

dont think owt is wrong, probs got box issues, but was just as a spare "just in case" part.My box is always in tip and likes to change from 2nd to 1st then to 3rd when going downhill at an almost standstill round corners. just confusing (and annoying if you trying to pose!!!)
