Very Nice!!!

Now post up the sheets!!!!!! :P

How much boost was the car running??

bradc
01-05-2007, 04:17 AM
Goku - that makes it about 380-400hp ATF :)

Don't have the sheets yet, not sure how much boost it was running either. I will know on Saturday (unless I take an afternoon off and pick it up early)

yeh At the wheels...
most of the clubs VR4s are around 170-180kw at the wheels,

so brads got 40-50kw more than your average VR4....

At the fly figures are not compairable as every one works it out slightly differently.

id be very happy with 220kw ATW,
although i wouldnt have waited over a year?? for it. im far to impatient.

Oh I know ;)

bradc

And for the VR-4's with only 130kw at the wheels, I beat them by 90kw :)

Basically I'm at the absolute limits of the turbos, I doubt that any work to the heads or cams would help at this stage. GT2860R here I come!

New turbines, old compressors.

Quoting Gary "it makes a **** load more torque than Uc's car"

/toycar :2thumbsup:party2: I remember this being one of the first projects i read about... when i registered in Nov 2004:afro:

But awesome stuff pulling it all together, and with a 5 speed chucked in for good measure/rally.

:soapbox: NOW, please for the love of CVR4, post a frigging video at the track or strip, before the ADHD kicks in again and tells you to fiddle with something else/pan and you end up with a quad turbo or something:scholar:

BS, I only got the car in May 2005, and I first started planning all of this stuff in October 2005!

Remember I've got the accurate software in the ecu that lets me monitor my 0-100 and 0-400m time. It should be 99% accurate, unless the wheels spin and it thinks up crazy thoughts.

Kieran - yeah I'm happy :)

It just shows what these engines are capable of if you get them breathing properly and fettle the turbos. Speaking of which, what size were the new turbines again?

But yeah, the thing I also like is that's 380bhp with standard internals too. That's very good.

bradc

imho the big issues are the maf, and stupid pipes to the front turbos. These pics should show how much of an easier time the front turbo has compared to the stock arrangment.

The turbines are the same size as usual, 40mm exducer with a 35mm inducer, but the turbine wheels have been clipped, so it is easier for the air to go through the turbos, but each molecule will do less work. Basically it will have a bit more lag, but the engine will make more power at the top end, due to having less back pressure.

Remember with a turbo'ed car like ours, the gases exiting the combustion chamber will almost certainly be at a higher pressure than the intake (10-15psi max for the intake) and reversion can occur if both exhaust and intake cams are open. Modifying the turbos, removing the cats, and coming up with an aftermarket downpipe and exhaust will really help things out.

In the bottom pic you can jsut see the pipe connecting to the front turbo and curving 90 degrees upwards, it then makes another nice 90 bend then goes into the air filter.

The back turbo has a similar intake, but it curves 90 degrees to aim towards the front of the engine bay, then another 90 degrees to turn into the air intake.

did you find out about the cold air box for me?
maybe they could get one made up while your cars still there?

Fair cop, i just checked (actually it was september 2005:scholar:). I think i mustv signed up quite a while before i started being a regular.

Do you have any other pics of the piping? or do we have to wait until the weekend.

Obviously the reason behind the MAP2 install is to get rid of all those pipes, so id be keen for a few different angles of that side of things, so i can see how many bends they used etc.

You inviting people to other peoples houses again?:scholar: What time are you going to be there? Iv got a yacht race on saturday which i cant miss so it'd have to be before 12.30ish.

I would be really keen though, given i havent actually seen the car. Ever.

heh yeah, I'm good at that :) I'll be able to be there at 11am at the earliest, not sure what Kenneth is up to though. What time does the yacht race finish? I could also go up to Dairy Flat and see another friend, and come back to your place at the end of the day.

Dont worry about it if it doesnt work for everyone, im sure i'll get to see it soon enough. Plus Iv got enough things still to sort out before you go filling my head with dreams of shiney piping:sunny:
