just had a search came across this
it says firing order for 3000gt and VR4 on the site, but the 3000 is a 3 litre, couldnt imagine it being much different, it makes sense to me in this order. but id wait for a second opinion
looks like number one would be on the front bank( closest to headlights) and on the passenger side
so if you were looking into the engine bay from the front of the car, it would be the first one on the right
firing order seems confusing at first at 123456, but if the engine was a straight 6 it would be in the following order for cylinders 142536
but theres a pic attached anyways

i hope it helps, dont take it for gospel thow, as im not sure if its correct, welcome to the forums thow and the club, a lot of good advice is on here, and is well worth the £20 join fee for the club, for the articles alone.....
hope you enjoy your stay here and post some pics up of your car.....especially if its silver, because silver is the best colour evah for a galant lol

Not something i know a whole lot about, but in the VR4 when i was installing the MAP2 piggyback, it uses a wasted spark ignition, with three coil packs, A which is cylinders 1&4, B which is 2&5, and C which is 3&6.

Dont know if thats specifically what your after or which cylinder is which, but i know the car runs in that configuration from the ecu

I made a little table thing to make sure i got it round the right way.

Hopefully someone else will be able to shed some more light

I am pretty sure that the cylinders are 180 degrees from the GTO. So starting from the left, looking from the front of the car it is

1-3-5
2-4-6

If you need any information on the galant just ask and I'll send you the manual... Makes it easier... :-)

that pic is for gto and VR4, hence why i guess its the same......but yeh thinking about it, the cams are on the otherside on GTO

that pic is for gto and VR4

But not our VR-4s. The GTO in america is called the VR-4, and yes the engine is the wrong way round.

Having checked the service manuals, the firing order for the non-turbo V6-24 is just 1,2,3,4,5,6.

Now.... As regards cylinder numbering. On the VR-4 which has three coils and a wasted spark firing system, the order is as Nick Mann states. I can't find any definite specification for the V6-24. I can't see why it would be different, my only hesitation is that the V6-24 uses a more conventinal single coil plus breakerless distributor setup.

The firing order is deffo 1-2-3-4-5-6 and as a rule of thumb cylinder #1 is normally at the front of the engine (but not sure which side, i "think" its the side nearest the air intake). I can give you a definite answer tonight when i get home and check mine......
