The thing you see me moving my finger on at the end is my touchpad (think laptop style mouse). and no the touchscreen doesn't work! The sound comes through great though :)

It's in a zip, save it, open it up, then run the video file.

I'll post up an article/how to in the next few days (lets be honest, mostly for reputation points)

hell no, not on a Via C3! It barely runs well enough on my Extreme Edition with 4gb of ram and a pair of 15k SAS drives!

:| Duuuuuhhhhhh????

I have no idea what you did, other than there is a laptop thrown in there somewhere, but thats a cool setup. Will you have to boot it up everytime you turn the car on? or will it just happen when you turn the key?

Also does it play DVDs through the sound system yet:P and touch screen would be rediculously cool:pimp2:

yeah I can do anything I want through the computer, play movies, mp3's, surf the net, etc. At the moment it's hooked up to a manual switch so I can turn it on and off.

Looking good.

Will you be able to modify the desktop to something a bit more - ICE like? Touchscreen really would be the icing on the cake!

doz it work while moving?

bradc

Steve - yeah I can, but I can't be bothered at this stage. It's impossible to get it working as a touch screen.

Snickells, yeah it is through the stock screen, do a search for MMCS

I guess meddling with the appearance is the finish touch. How about a trackerball thingy between the driver and the gearshift instead of touchscreen?

cool, go to know it actually worked.

Steve - I find the trackballs are very hard to use, the touchpad is something I'm used to because I use laptops all the time.

Carsten - yeah so glad you got it

Why did you choose to use SAS drives?

bradc
28-05-2007, 08:17 AM
I got a free Intel 8 port PCIe 8x SAS controller, so I figured it would be nice to get some SAS drives as well. I got 2x 73gb 15k SAS drives on trademe for about $170 each :)

Nice, deal like that can't really say no! Just wondering if 15k was going to be better or worse at dealing with vibrations... are you horizontally or vertically mounting them?

bradc

I'm mounting them in a Silverstone TJ-03 case, bolted straight into the main hdd rack
