I have a V6 sport with leather seats, and was wondering if anyone knows what the cable connected to the front seats is for.

The seats have manual adjusters and are not heated.

The cable is in a yellow sleeve with a red plug on the end.

Could the seats have air bags, even though it doesn't say srs (or anything else) on the side of them?

I've got a V6 elegance with the leather seats in, and if you look very closely on the sides it has SRS embossed in the seat leather.

Could it be seat belt pre-tensioner?

While we're on the subject how easy (or is it even possible) to wire seats with airbags, so that they function, into say a VR4 which didn't previously have seats with airbags?

'scuse me butting in gents.

Do you mean this 1, if so it is the pre load it inform the srs that you have taken an impact.

No, the wire goes from a red socket on the floor into the seat itself.

Is this standard operation for seats with airbags? If so it answers my question.

Will try and get a piccy tomorrow.

From what I,ve read on previous posts it is side air bag wiring, but there is absolutely nothing written on the side of the seats!

The car is an early (V reg) sport estate if that makes any difference, amd I'm just curious as to what the wire is for.

Ten points to PSB - the cable is indeed for the side airbags. The seatbelt warning cable isn't fitted to the UK spec cars - Only the imports, and it's black anyway.

Thats what I thought, but I also thought if side air bags were fitted it was marked on the side of the seat

Is it a badge that could have come off because theres definitely nothing on the sides of my seats?

I suppose there is one way I could find out if I have side air bags or not!!! /pan

Sorry, I've been and checked my seats and it actually has "AIRBAG" stamped in the side about an inch down from the top of the seat. However, looking at other people's interior pics (mainly the VR4 leather interiors) my seats seem to be a different style? I'll try and get some pics tomorrow.
