I was wondering if someone could please give me the heads up on whether the e-manage ultimate is worth getting over the blue e-manage ? I'm basically leaving the VR4 stock but changing the exhaust a few months down the track. Wat advantages does the Ultimate give over bluey ?
Am I better off with something else (AFC ?)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated by me and my car ;)

I suppose it depends how far you want to go with your tuning ??

Are you going to be tuning it yourself or are you going to take it somewhere to get tuned.

Here are the features of both..

EMB..

EMU...

If you plump for the EMB, the 1 benefit you get over the EMU is that it can all be controlled from the E-01 Programmer : http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/photos/e-01_photos/index.html

This allows you to alter Airflow, Fuelling, Ignition without the use of a Laptop.

Also if you go for the Profec E-01 which is a Boost Controller as well you have a complete control over boost and engine metrics..

There are other options out the as well though.

There was recently a group buy on the MAP ECU2, you will need to speak to WRD or Benh for info on this though as i ain't got the foggyist :D

Cheers mate ... I'll have to getting reading through the links u sent ... gotta find some time ... I'll get someone else to tune it as there is a guy here in Perth that can help me out and tune it on the dyno ...
I'll have to have a look at the members rides here a little closer. Not after any huge modifications, more of a mild tune and slight boost increase.

Hi Nismo

I think Glen has summed the Emanage up perfectly , very good bit of kit and if I didn't have a mapecu2 I would probably have gone down that route as well

The mapecu2 can do the following which is almost identicle to the ultimate but you don't need a sperate boost controller

Fueling , timing , boost control , lauch control , NOS control , Maf removal , FCD , SCD , Dual switchable maps

Hope this helps

Just had a read about the Map-ECU2 and it sounds great ... I guess I need to work out how far I'm going to go with the car ...
I was hoping to just run a piggy back with no other mods. I thought the emanage would be enuff and cheap, but replacing the maf sensor and having boost controller sounds like I would have to spend the extra cash anyway ...
Can someone pm approx how much u guys paid for the map-ecu2 on the group buy ? Perhaps I could get the guys on OZVR4 in OZ to do the same ...
I can always check the japan auuctions for 2nd hand units (dreaming?).

Thanks for ur help yet again guys, I'm sure I'll be back

i bought the Map2 earlier this year, and it is good, even though its not running at its full potential yet in my car. Something to remember with the MAP2, is that although it has the ability to advance and retard timing, the current 1st generation doesnt have the facility to monitor timing (only your changes) or engine knock. Which i believe the Ultimate may be able to.

Dont forget if you are planning to tune it yourself, you will really need some form of wideband for measuring AFR, so allow some $ for that.

If you arent going to get rid of the Mass Air Flow sensor, and dont need additional boost control, then something like the Apexi SAFCII might be a better option?

Oh yeah, and i paid $1022.48Nz for my MAP2 as part of their preorder deal, i got it from www.drivenperformance.co.nz, i think the price may have changed a bit since then though. I also paid $380odd for the LC-1 wideband, and $170 for a boost solenoid, and $15 for a Reed switch for Launch control.
