I think some people have had negative experiences with the cars they have bought from there. That obviously doesn't mean that every car they sell will automatically be a pup though.

If you do have any problems with the car, you're certainly in good company for advice etc. There is a wealth of knowledge in the club that you can access.

Don't panic - I'm sure you'd know by now if there was a major problem :)

Keighley have just had a few dodgey cars for sale in the past....... We went to view a few before we bought our VR4 ( before Richy became a CVR4 member , I may add) and they ran like a bad of nails and even had to have tires pumped up before we could take it for a test drive as they were completely flat.

I am not saying that all of their cars are bad, just the ones we viewed, you may have purchased a good one.

I would however advise that you get the car checked out by someone that really knows our cars inside and out ( WRD Motorsport is a great place to start) They are renowned within CVR4 for knowing their stuff when it comes to VR4s and alot of our members trust them above Mitzi garages to take care of their pride and joys.

Send them a PM if you have any concerns..... They will be only too pleased to help.

lol this one had a flat when we went to view it.
well its been into garage for a full service and replaced the belt to be on the safe side as service history is in japanese and i only know a few commands my old martial arts instructer used to shout lol.
will add that it had bit of a miss fire which was easily sorted and the clutch was slipping but thats in tomorrow to be replaced.
garage that has done the work specialises in imports say its in good nick so fingers crossed

There is plenty of discussion all over the Jap car websites about them, some members have suffered very poor service apparently, some reckon they've picked up bargain VR4s.

Whatever anyone elses experience the rule of thumb is, as always, buy with your eyes open, know what to look for (or take a friend who does), request proof of everything, take your time and don't be pressured into buying.

Glad to hear your happy with yours, although it does seem you've been left with a few niggles to sort out!

I suppose being able to partex can be another big issue with dealers - sounds like you're happy with the deal you struck and pleased with the car you got. Doesn't get better than that!

Hello mate, I think I you might have used the same garage I go to - Pennine Way at West Auckland? I was up there for a service a couple of weeks ago and they mentioned that'd they'd had a Legnum in the day before that someone had bought from Keigthly Trade Centre. Guessing that might have been you!

Personally i would take a look but from comments use it as a private type sale and go with my eyes wide open.
But as with any car sale private or commercial take care.
They apparently list a price and don't move very far from it fair play to them even with all the bad publicity they must be doing something right as they have been in buisness a while now /lol

They have massive stock and have all the right cars but the condition of the cars has been stated to be poor on many a thread I pesonally have not been, no need, I would rather buy of E-Bay than there, but I have heard many a bad tale, as oyou say I guess they have "some" good ones just get whatever you want to buy thoroughly checked out:thinking:

Everything mentioned about them says they a not worth a visit
but to operate like they do the cars must be really cheap stock with a low profit margin and a high turnover.
I think they do have a differing branch also.
I have assume they are making a profit but perhaps at the experience of their morals
The sales cannot be due to just falling in love with the car and buying a dog

Well, put it this way... As I've mentioned before, a member on here (who shall remain unnamed unless they wish to step forward), was looking at a Modified VR-4 via the Japan auctions. They spotted quite a modified example, however it was a Grade 'RA' (meaning it's been in an accident, repaired and returned to road use). When said member enquired further, the auction agent went for a closer look and reported back that the engine was making a 'knocking' sound and therefore did not bid on the car. Now, given the number of Legnums/Galants that go through the auctions, I really doubt this was just the lash adjusters ticking, if you know what I mean.....

Anyway, fast forward about a month, and what appears on KTC's website, being described as a 'fresh import' for about 4 grand? Yep, you guessed it.

And yes, it was the same one. I don't want to give any details away as I don't know who bought it, but the modifications on it were pretty unique and instantly recognisable.

As has been said before, Caveat Emptor!

I was looking to buy the car K is talking about.

The present owner who got it from KTC, has all of the information he needs.

It looks like he may have been lucky though. The car appears to be fine.

Or I was unlucky in being unable to purchase said vehicle direct from Japan....
