Well done Wayne .........

37 days ago I had my last Mayfair cigarette. I think I smoked around 60 a day so thats 2,220 at a cost of £488.40! (As John pointed out)

Still fancy one from time to time but I won't start ever again now. 40 years is enough - and oddly I don't have any withdrawal symptoms. Keep this up and I'll be able to afford a Maserati or Aston Martin soon .............

Nice one Rich, I gave up 2 months ago and admittedly was only on about 8 a day and found it reasonably easy this time. Just went cold turkey, no patches or gum (yeugh) and its been ok. I have a bit of a rollie about once a week and nothing else.
Kepp at it. Its shocking how much more money i seems to have now (well relatively).
The best advise is to keep busy and avoid activities which you used to associate with smoking.

Heh! Thanks for the kind words guys.

Derek .......... About 4/5 years ago was the first time I ever tried to give up. It was 'cold turkey' just the same as this time. Both times have had one common factor - I was 'forced' to give up for a short period of time due to my physical location > hospital.

The first time I was only in hospital for one night - a total of some 24 hours, but that was sufficient for me to congratulate myself on not having a fag for SO LONG. That in turn led to a personal challenge to see how long I could last without one. It lasted 5 months ........ but I then had a row with my wife, went to a pub on a bender and decided it would be a good idea to smoke and then blame my wife (silly but true).

This time I was in hospital for 8 days so I had a good 'kick start' - my wife is being extra nice and refuses any arguments that I'm trying so hard to create!

At the end of the day - it's all in the mind and it depends on what influences YOU.

I was wondering if any members on here would like to start some sort of competition to give up and see who lasts longest? This sort of system is 'group therapy' similar to womens slimming clubs and can be very successful.

Congratulations Rich......./bounce /Banana /GJ

I admire anyone to just give up. I had a similar experience as you last time I gave up. Couple of years ago I had a severe chest infection and I couldn't breath let alone puff on a cig. Anyway, I gave up for 5 months then my Grandad became really ill and one thing led to another and I am back on them again.

Thanks Lilly, well i had a couple of bits of my mates rollies last week and they were ok. TBH Im trying to save money ATM (hence why im SORNing my car tomorrow for a month of 2) so this is a good way to save quite a bit relatively easily.

Paul - where are you storing the car? I didn't think you had parking because of your nitwit neighbour?

I DONT have parking due to aforementioned person.
However my mother has a nice large front drive tucked away at the quiet end of the island down a nice quiet secluded lane. So tonight i shall be going to waste some petrol en-route .......mwahahaha!
Sad to be doing so, but i would rather park up for a bit than sell the beast.
