Wow - my flat looks more like the WRD workshop at the moment! Shame 'cos I need the spare bedroom back for a lodger otherwise I'll never recoup the money I've just spent!

Brakes
Cluttering my hall way at the moment are front and rear Brembos from an Evo 8 which are awaiting preperation and spraying as per this thread (http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?threadid=123006&highlight=painting+calipers) on the MLR. Apparently the Halfords High Temperature metallic black paint will end up 'gunmetal'. Cool!

I also have standard front and rear discs and am awaiting delivery of my Carbotech fast road pads - hopefully this combination will deliver good wear (no doubt my driving (Miss Daisy) style will assist here. Also hopeful that the lower spec pads will mean I don't get the brake squeal that some have suffered. Obviously I am now following the thread on budget brake pads with a great deal of interest!

Wheels
I've had some Evo 9 wheels for a few months and am just waiting for my 17" Toyo TR-1s to be delivered and fitted. Hopefully I'll get the call before the weekend to say the fitters have received the tyres - fingers crossed. These are currently on the floor in the spare bedroom.

ICE
The Kenwood double-din DVD player is in place, unfortunately the bluetooth kit I had wasn't compatible with the headunit. I have sourced a compatible one now but it's not bluetooth - not a big problem as I was having to plug my phone into the cigarette lighter anyway to prevent the battery running down all the time.

Music Keg/Sat Nav/TMC currently under my bed waiting to be installed soon, should finish of the entertainment side of things nicely.

The only irritation here is that the headunit doesn't sit flush with the console - I'd thought there might be a range of flexible surrounds which would make up the difference. Alas no. However, just like Baldrick I have a cunning plan.

Interior
The Coups de Grace! Also in the spare bedroom along with the Evo interior I'm trying to get delivered to another member.

I've sourced these Recaros (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160120733976&rd=1&rd=1) from a Vectra GSi. Boy they're comfy! Electric adjustment too! A quick inspection suggests that the fitment is similar~ish - over to you WRD!

I can then either try to retrim the VR4 rear seats or better still (and preferable) try and get the rears to fit (extra comfort, extra headrest and ski hatch). There is plenty of material on the GSi doorcards - so hopefully these can be used to retrim the VR4 cards.

I'd be really interested to hear members thoughts on the practicalities of transplanting the rears and how hard it is to retrim the seats/cards. Also recommended car retrim specialists and suggested prices. TIA

Let me know if you're interested in any of the parts these items will be replacing as they'll be up for grabs once the work is completed.

The camo style material is much more subtle than those pics suggest - probable due to the camera flash.

So do I:thumbsup:

Are they the new Toyos on there? Have just fitted the latest spec to mine and they got the test of their lives at the Ring and Spa in the wet. Awesome grip (much to the annoyance of one or two Evos!!) Quiet on normal road use too.

Tyres are T1-Rs and I'm quite happy with them so far - obviously I'm not even remotely close to giving them the sort of workout yours enjoyed at the Ring.

Shame - Halfords reckon they didn't do the black metallic VHT paint (which apparently turns out gunmetal), and couldn't locate a part number for it. Nevermind - black it is.

Matt black at the moment. We'll see how it turns out after the laquer has been applied.

I'm actually liking the matt black - very Mad Max!

However, the laquer must go on.
