Hi Guys I'm new to this site and to my Legnum VR4 (1996 plate).

I have read lots of threads regarding wheel sizes and I'm confused :huh2:

I want to fit 17's and lower the car on some Tien springs so what size wheels tyres do I need and what offset guys????

Cheers :)

any 17x7 or 17x8 wheel will be fine, as long as the offset is in the 35-40mm range. With a 17x7 wheel you can go up to about 45mm.

the normal sizes people put on are 215/45, 225/45 and 235/45 dependant on the width of the wheel

So brad - if I get 18 x 8.5 or by 7.5 what are my offset limits?

With an 8.5 wide wheel, you'll struggle to get it between the arch and the suspension. Increase the offset and you'll foul the arch, decrease and you'll foul the suspension.

I have no experience of this, but I would guess you'll need an offset in the region of 35 or a bit less, and you'll need to get your arches shaped to cope with the fact the wheel will hit it everytime your suspension compresses!

Maybe someone with an 8.5 wide wheel can comment?

Gly has 18x8.5" wheels with a 35mm offset, he did need to roll his guards, but he doesn't have a problem at all now that he has done that. His car is quite low as well.
