I just phoned up my insurance about how much my insurance would change if decided to installed an electronic boost controller (which I've already installed), they said if I fit it they would no longer insure me..... oops :) I'm with elephant, is anyone with a compny that doesn't mind these things?

If you were asked by an insurance company what an EBC does, what would you say? I'm unsure on the technical details and think I'm making it sound worse than it is! lol

Declared all my mods with Adrian Flux and they didn't even change my premium!!!

Hmm, thats a bit of a bummer, seeing as how I've just renewed my insurance with Elephant (as of 12:01pm yesterday!) and an EBC was something I was thinking about in the future! I'm sure companies like Adrian Flux probably wouldn't have a problem.

Edit - a bit slow with the Adrian Flux comment there!

I'm with Lifesure and thy said that mods were OK and could be accommodated.

I think Sky insurance are the same. Sometimes it pays to go with specialist insurers.

I was with Elephant and changed as they couldn't offer a competative premium.

Cheers, I'll have a look at that Adrian Flux, haven't heard of them. When I said I had an EBC they were like "whats one of them" and because it allowed you to modify the car from it's stardard performance they wouldn't ensure it.

the only thing most companies i looked at was the addition of a piggy back ecu but in the great scheme of things these dont add much power, but the EBC and exhaust that probably added 50bhp OK but the ecu which may add 20-30bhp "no way".
I have had similar issues on previous cars Ie A MK2 astra every modded insurer was fine with all engine mods ( lighten ballanced cams head the works), but mention it had been chipped and they would run a mile

Well an update, I have now moved to Adrian Flux. My old policy with Elephant.co.uk was 10 months with no modifications and was £750, my new policy with AF is 12 months with an EBC and alloy wheels is £789! It's cheaper when you take into account it's 2 months longer!!! Result!!!! :deal2: /woot2 /woot2

A big thanks! :2thumbsup

Nice 1 :D

Did you try Lifesure ?

I have all my Mods declared for £400..

Also have you checked that it is a like for like replacement ?

Some companys note down the modifications, but will not replace them in the event of accident or theft !

£300! Damn :), I can't complain though, I seem to pay alot less than friends of mine and they just have standard cars.

I didn't try them, maybe have a look. I'm not sure about the like for like replacement, I've got 14 days to cancel so I'll check that with them. Cheers.
