ok was all set for some 17" wheels but my mate who is manager of an ats depot reckons 225 40 18,s will fit a treat the car is not lowered and i think these would look good what do you guys reckon good idea or 17,s better bet cheers

225/40/18 will fit with wheels that are between 35mm and 40mm offset, but 18" wheels will slow your acceleration because they are heavier and will give you worse ride quality. Probably better to stick with 17's

ah thats what i wanted to know cheers dont want to compromise performance for style

Or buy good light 18"s and live with a harsher ride and have style too

I've got 18's and Love them..

225/40/18's with no issues with clearance..

And you can't say that all 18's are heavier than 17's as it depends on the style and Manufacturer /yes

You can have an 18" wheel thats lighter than a 17" whell or even a 16" wheel :inquisiti

A 17" wheel of the same design as an 18" wheel will always be lighter :)

i love my 18"s... nothing wrong with them. No rubbing etc... comes down to personal preference in the end. Though theres more designs in 17"s

I looked into this a while ago, I some found specs that would suit my car:

225x40x18 on 7" Rim,
PCD 5x114.3
Bore 67.1mm
Offset 35-40mm

With Tein S-Tech lowering springs these would still be fine.

Can you divulge me with pics :), I can't promise anything though as I'm being quite fussy at the moment hence why I haven't bought any yet.

Lol, email me a couple of pics anyway, if they're the right price you never know. I more fussy on the style rather than condition.

Im starting to feel the idea of 18" alloys too..

Will a set of 18" by 7" give me complete clearance? I ask because my car will be sitting lower then 40mm.

I'm at least 40mm lowered on 7.5" and have never had an issue with Clearance or Rubbing :pimp2:

Yeah, about 35-40mm offset. The VR-4 has such large wheel arches, the 18's will look much better filling them!
