Is there an induction kit for the v6?

OR is panel filter the only viable option?

I just remember hearing many comments about complications on the galsnt that I've never had on other cars that you bolt them to.

Thanks

You can retro fit any aftermarket filter to a Galant..

But you will lose power as the hot air from the engine bay gets sucked straight into it..
So unless your going to use a cold air feed and box it in, away for the heat of the engine.. I would stick with the original set up. You can get a better flowing panel filter for your standard airbox..

The 1 thing you would gain from a cone type filter more induction noise under acceleration. On most cars it sounds quite impressive /yes but it won't win you any more traffic light Grand Prix's :scholar:

ok ,cool
well i dont like to boot it from standstill, or boot it generally as im using the auto. despite being on amsoil atf, i'm still not sure the box will last the pain.

i would like some induction noise when i do boot it though ;)

where do i go next? Do i buy a cone off ebay and you give me insturctiosn to fit?

Hey don't worry about the Auto Box :scholar: It'll be fine as long as you keep using Amsoil at the right service intervals /pan

I think theres quite a few members on here that have tried the aftermarket filter with the Maf Adapter.. But reverted back to the standard set up .. So i would think someone will be a long soon to offer you 1 :D

Heres one off ebay, as per usual the seller has quoted multi fitment.
Have checked with k&n and they say that this filter will NOT fit your vehicle easily. (I say easily cos k&n dont make a cone filter for the galant and the only panel filter they do is for the 2.4 or 3.0? {hang on 3.0? is there one??!?}) [enough brackets there i think!] Although universal kits are pretty easy to retro fit, i fitted a k&n to my prelude with an intake pipe off an escort 1.3! All you need to do is find a filter with a similar 'neck' size to the intake pipe. Saying that most uni kits come with reducers etc. to help with the fitment. If you do go for a cone filter try to get a metal mesh one cos they sound better especially on forced induction or large capacity engines. Gonna go now cos my hands are tired from typin but if you any other questions just ask cos I was a tuning specialist at halfords :afro:

US version... Not sure of fitment..

There plenty of those on E-Bay but you would have to take a chance on fitment..

I checked with k&n uk so it is possible that it might fit but I cant see it being any different from k&n US. But in my experience as a specialist even the listed part can be touch and go as manufacturers sometimes use parts from other models which can cause issues but like I said it usually isnt a problem with fitting with a little diy but the engine heat IS going to be, a custom heat sheild is easy enough to make though

Do you think heat shields actually work ??

Only if its fully sealed on all sides AND the top, the only opening should be for the cold air feed, not to mention it has to be made of a material that doesnt heat up much. ones you see where ppl only cover the sides dont work very well seeing as heat rises and just gets sucked over the top. TBH a performance panel filter would be the easier and cheaper option unless you see a bargain and dont mind a little diy

That was what i was getteng at /yes

A shield is no good whatsoever.. A modified standard box would be a cheap and easy place to start..

Yeah I gave up on cone filters after my prelude,On my astra 1.6 im running a k&n panel and it runs a smoother and i think a little quicker than with the k&n cone I had on it, but then again vauxhall did design the filter box and ive never noticed it get even a little warm on the inside. (yes i did boot it aroud for a while then stop and open the box to check)/pan not to mention the panel is also covered by the 1000000 mile warranty so all i need to do is tell the mechanic at mot/service time not to throw it away:inquisiti

i've got a cone , maf adaptor and heat sheild sat here if you want it , trouble is they don't work on these cars , you wil gain on top and bottom end pul , but the midrange where you really need it is a bottomless pit of despair , yes they sound good , but probably the biggest wast of time and money ever

so best to go with std setup with "brand x" panel filter and new exhaust?

yes I think it is the best just to put a panel filer and a new exhaust on it work the best for me, I took the cone filter off and replaced it with a K&N panel filter less noise same power
