Ok guys and gals

I have just been sent all the official information regarding Japfest 2004. As per the exisiting post regarding this the date is confirmed as Saturday 22nd May.

The reason for the new thread is just to tidy things up and it's time to start confirming numbers and arranging advance payments. The format is pretty much the same as last year when over 6000 people attended, 22 Clubs had display stands and there were 41 traders. The major difference this year is we can reserve track time JUST FOR US !

Okay, good news over - here comes the bad bit. Each track session costs £350.00 and a maximum of 20 cars are allowed at a time. Therefore if we book a Club VR4 session and 20 people do it thats £17.50 each per session. If only 10 do it then it's £35 per person etc. The other option is to go it alone and pay £22 per session but you will be on a mixed bunch of cars and not just CVR4. A session is 15 minutes of track time.

Below I have cut and pasted the list of people who wish to show their car on the CVR4 stand and the people who indicated they would like track time. It is free to show your car but advance entrance tickets are £6 per person INSERT INTO post VALUES (will be £10 per person on the gate); and kids under 14 are free. As promised, CVR4 members will get priority, so for the track sessions I have listed the CVR4 members first and then a seperate list of non-members in the order they put their name down. If all 20 slots go to members then the non-members will not be accepted for the track INSERT INTO post VALUES (but of course they could pay the £22 and go in a mixed run). If all 20 places are not filled by members then the free spots will go to the people in order on the list.

What we MUST do is the following:

a) Get confirmed numbers asap so we can book it - the stands and track time are first come first served so let's get in there!
b) Please post if you want track time for definate, and on the assumption we fill 20 places how many sessions are you willing to pay for ? 1,2,3 etc
c) How many advance entrance tickets you need at £6 per person

We have to pay for the whole lot when we book, so once we have confirmed numbers we will need payments please. Just one track session at £350 and say 30 entrance tickets is £180, totalling £530 for someone to outlay so it is only fair to get the money up front off people.

Right, got all that ? Get posting people.

Yes! Put me down for three Club VR-4 track sessions and I'll be on the stand, proudly ploishing my GLS in between track runs!:-D

So, that's 3 track sessions INSERT INTO post VALUES (provided we can get the numbers up); plus 2 tickets for alex and me!

Please put me down for a space on the stand and may I have two tickets INSERT INTO post VALUES (one for Katie and one for me).

I will pay for track time although I'm not overly concerned if someone else values my space more than me. I'm also not really interested in paying for more than one session.

To be honest guys, I think 2 sessions is the more likely scenario. I reckon by the time we book we won't get three but also imagine the time involved to get 20 of us off the stand and back each time - I reckon on morning session and one afternoon session may be more sensible INSERT INTO post VALUES (and of course the cost aspect if we don't fill all 20 slots). Any thoughts ?

I'd be too scared of stuffing the car into a barrier, or doing something equally stupid.

I don't underestimate myslef, I once did 4K of damage to a company Mondeo driving onto a ferry at Dublin port :$

Took a while to live that down at the office, and then to make matters worse, whilst my Mondeo was in the shop I had to go back over, but didn't much fancy charging around the backroads of Galway in the courtesy Corsa so a colleague was good enough to lend me his Mondeo...........

Ahhhh, well..... working in Germany I often drive over, and have all that good autobahn fun, all the way from the Dutch border to Niedersachsen INSERT INTO post VALUES (about 3 hours at as fast as I dare to go...)

I'm not all that sure about the track thing, I think I need to experience it as an observer, and then as Kieran said probably find myself wishing I had INSERT INTO post VALUES (then something to save for the next!)

Ok, situation as it is.

14 people have put their names down for track sessions and 10 of them want 2 sessions.

Now the question is this, will the other 4 upgrade to 2 sessions INSERT INTO post VALUES (Mo, Peterernest, Mark and Nigel) ? If not we only have 14 for one session so far INSERT INTO post VALUES (which is £21.42 each) and 10 for the second session INSERT INTO post VALUES (£30 each) which makes it damn expensive.

I will need to put a deadline on this very soon so that we can book the stand, track sessions etc and get all the money in from you guys...and soon is right now....lol

THE DEADLINE IS 18TH JANUARY 2004

I want two advance tickets plus three track sessions

If we do two club sessions I would like an extra session to run with the riff raff as I did last year

And a message for Adam - if you are working in Germany and want an intro to track days, meet up with me at the Nurburgring during the year - my first visit wil be at Easter if plans work out - we are going Thurs to Tue and you can meet up with us and have a passenger lap or two - at 20.8 km per lap its a great place to enjoy the car

Chris - thanks mate - have put you down for 2 track sessions with CVR4 - I guess you will need to arrange the seperate session on your own, but to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if there are any left after the clubs book them all up.

Spirit

I emailed the organisers today and they confirmed the track sessions are being booked up quickly so we will need to act on this quickly. The deadline is the 18th of Jan so please spread the word to other members when online. Then it's time to cough up some cash - will work out exact amounts when final numbers reached, as stated if 20 places are not taken up the price will be more than £17.50 per session

Spirit
25-01-2004, 12:09 AM

Pete

I sent a message to Barry whilst Forums were down

My car is for sale and although I want to attend JapFest I may not have the VR-4 by then

I will still pay for entry and track time as prev stated but you may have a CVR-4 member on track in...goodness knows what

It will be a decently fast motor but from which manufacturer I do not know

So let me know if I should still book tkts inc tracktime or cancel my request as I will almost certainly NOT be turning up in the VR-4 - assuming I get a buyer

Chris - hang fire for now, I for one am happy for you to join is no matter what you have.

The problem we have is that we HAVE NOT filled the 20 spaces for a £17.50 per person track session :( :(

We now need to decide if we are gonna book just one or two sessions ? Let's say 12 of us actually go ahead with the track sessions then this is £350/12 = £29.17 each per session - this is more than going on your own in a mixed group - what do people think ???

We need to tie this down asap and get it booked so please help me out here people

Why not just sell spare slots to others for the going "normal" rate of £20.....then either split proceeds between those who have already paid ( so we get it cheaper!) OR put it in the VR4 club account to pay for Flags etc

I was lucky enought to get a brand new helmet cheap - got a few track days lined up so had to buy one - have a look on eBay mate (not the best way but the cheapest way).

With regards to the spare slots - at £20.00 per slot they may end up getting it cheaper than the rest of us, but the Japfest price for the "in the mix with anyone" track sessions are £22.00 each so maybe we should go with that ?

£20-£22? I dont think £2 will put people off! I like the idea of excess money going in the CVR4 kitty, what with the possibility of moving hosting companies and all..................

For crash helmets check out Demon Tweeks for latest std of helmet accepted by many tracks - this ensures you get decent helmet that should be accepted at other UK tracks if you find yourselves taking the vr-4 elsewhere

OMP AGV - Jet Axis (open face helmet) in white - S, M, L, XL
BS6658-Type A MSA Approved
2003 price - £49.12 plus £3.71 for peak plus VAT

or

Sparco equivalent - Club in S, M, L, XL
2003 price - £55.00 peak included I believe plus VAT

Do NOT go for Type B as lower std and may NOT accepted at UK tracks

CHECK WITH THEM FOR HEAD SIZE TO MATCH CRASH HELMET SIZE

I'm sure others who use internet banking would like to do the same too! :)

I am going to book it and pay for it myself so therefore cheques and payments will need to come to me. The thread with all the info will be up and running in about 15 mins.
