Welcome to the club!

A VR-4 at 18? Is southampton in NZ or something? Good luck on getting insurance for a VR-4!

no no southampton UK. yes i kno but i have been researching long and hard and the cheapest fully comp so far is £2100 which was the first year in the clio so...
anyways i spend my money on cars and the gf and that is about it so might aswell jump in the deep end. :)

The NZ bit was a joke, they seem to have VR4's coming out of thir ears over there, and insurance seems a lot cheaper!
£2100 fully comp for a VR4 or the Clio? Sounds cheap, sure its not a V6 you've been quoted for? Cheapest quote i've got was about £700 and im 34!

lol, no it was definately the twin turbo because when they gave me that quote i made them double check!! however i have 3 years no claims, norwich union is 12 months for the price of 9, so im doing alright for myself at the moment. i just have to find the car now at the right money in the right condition which is taking the time. If i had 8k i think if have the black one for sale in the classifieds. shouldnt think that will be round for long. i test drove a similar uk spec car a while ago and got me hooked. just couldnt afford the dough :(

Poss from bike insurance from a ped that got transfered to a car?

Its still a hell of a jump from a clio to a vr4, but good luck anyway! If you are in southampton, you might find one in the import auctions that might ease the cost of ownership. Just be careful its a good 'un!

Cheers,

Ben.

Tom, i'd be wary of those 9 month accelarator policies, if i remember correctly very few insurance companies do them and the NCB isnt transferrable to a normal 12 month policy.

indeed i shall be wary and thanks for the advice. it was norwich union who quoted me first time with that price so the ncb accelerator still applies. however in hindsight, i did not say to them it was a saloon instead of an estate so we shall have to wait and see. it is a big jump from clio to vr4 but u have to start somewhere so i shall try my luck.

thanks

/Welcome....

Be careful, I have spoken to alot of companies and they try to quote for the V6 not the Vr4
Also most insurance companies will not insure a person under 25 years for an import so you will be looking at a UK spec car.

I tried today to get a quote for a Mazda MX5..(prep in advance). They wouldn't give it to me as I have only had my licence 9 months! Even tho I am way over 25! There must be some companies out there that look after young un petrolheads!?? i have 2 years no claims too! God knows how that happened!
If anyone finds one please PM me. I'd like to know too.
