I will try to use what i can and put rest into storage under b1n but hopefully the main piece can be of some use.I thought it wasn't to bad for a new parts as some places have them for sale for £400+ but i suppose you get what you pay for.

The stock intercooler is tiny
not to mention ugly :) I think that was a pretty good deal. You could probably hand off the evo piping on trademe to someone who needs it.
hes in the uk,
250 pounds... at todays rate is $645nz

Will it fit on the existing brackets/rubber shoes etc or will it need custom bits making up?
It looks nice! Let us know how fitting goes, and what extra bits you need etc.

so far i have got the front end off, have taken pictures so will post up when i have time to download. although the pipe work isnt for vr4 it is possible to use to match up existing pipe work. Intercooler looks and fits good no obvious problems , will spend a bit of time adjusting frame work and brackets to suit. no rush with this one so will spend a bit of time getting it spot on.

You need two pipes for the intercooler to fit...
If i remember correctly you will need approx:
63mm O/D x 45d bend with 120mm each straight
63mm O/D x 90d bend with 140mm & 210mm straights
The brackets can be made to fit with ease. Very simple on my old one.

cheers axeboy, i have quite a bit of silicon samco piping kicking about so have covered the pipe work. just need to manufacture a couple of brackets which isnt to much of a problem. did you notice good improvement after fiting the kit?

I never fitted the cooler in the end.
I was waiting on polished bends and now the car is for sale, so never had it totally fitted.
However, the local rolling road reconed that the intercooler would have had a great effect on my car anyway.

I have the old one off at te moment it doesn't look up to much, have no idea why mitsi would restrict the car like that.

Are you going to mount the Power Steering Cooler back in front of the New FMIC, Behind or like some other members chop it off and shorten it :speechles

i have looked at that and it looks like with a bit of adjustment it should fit in front of the intercooler will have to make a new fixing bracket but other than that it should be quite snug

Yes it will fit back in front /yes
And your FMIC being only 76mm thick, it shouldn't take to much modifying ..
If your are at all interested in any of my mechanical installation ideas or opinions  I could post a pic of how i re-attached my Power Steering Cooler to my FMIC

Just wondering why you needed to alter the bonet catch?I have similar idea as you for fitting but will be grinding abit away so that the intercooler sits slightly higher. i will be fixing the power steering pipes through the fins but i am going to try and get a 4mm bolt through if i can.i are using the evo pipes to piece up as 45 and 90 degree bends as required.

I have the 600x300x100 so it is 24mm thicker than yours.. I had to modify the bonnet catch so that i could fit it behind the protection beam.. I don't think you will have this issue :afro:. If you look in Pic 10 you will see that the Vertical bar going down from the bonnet catch had to be persuaded with a Large Mer :D This put the bonnet catch out of allignment and the New mounting had to be added to bring it back in line for the bonnet to shut securely..
As for Grinding and Cutting
I didn't want to interfer with the structural integrity of the front of the car.. As it is the thing protecting you in a crash..
I can see which bit your going to be grinding, and it doesn't look structural.. But i still didn't want to mess with it..
I think some other members have messed with the protection beam at the front :inquisiti To me, thats a definite no no /pan
But as i said, with your FMIC only being 76mm thick.. There won't be an issue with this..
This is also why i am sourcing FMIC's for club members of the 600x300x76mm persuasion :D

the bit i will be altering is the same piece where the intercooler fixes too at the top. i will be cutting the left and right side by about 20mm so the intercooler sits under but 20mm higher. hard to describe but will take pic when done.i dont think i will need to alter the impact bar will look at that later but hopefully i wont need to.

Yup :) Thats the bit i thought you would be cutting /yes
this will bring it up so its clear of the valance..

You shouldn't need to no ! As your FMIC is only 76mm thick.. IIRC i only had to sit my FMIC further back by approx 10-15mm.. So yours should be fine :2thumbsup

a bit more progress today but hindered by the rain so spent about 1 hour on the project.the cooler is seated somewhere near its final position so tomorrow should be able to finish piping up and making secure and make final all brackets.
