Hi all - Some help for a noob please

Does anyone know if the wheels and brake discs from a 2002 v6 elegance (mitsi 12 spoke 17") will go straight onto a 1999 v6 (195/60/15), or where I can find the brake and wheel spec for each model? Both are four stud wheels.

Thanks for your help

The wheels are definitely a direct replacement. The only thing that may be different on the brakes is the hole spacing on the hub carrier that the calipers bolt to. The disc size and pad shape changed on some models, but my best guess is that if you change the whole lot it will be fine.

As far as I know the regular (non-VR4) Galants were originally equipped with single-pot calipers back in 1996. In 1999 several modifications were done to the model, including twin-pot calipers. I have a 1999 december V6 version that has the twin-pot calipers. So in your case... it could be either. Should it be the single-pot caliper then (as Sackers said) at least the hub carrier should be changed too. Put the cars next to each other and remove a wheel from both of them to check!

regular galant
1996-1997 - one pot caliper (130mm hub mount) with 14" brake disc
1997-11.1998 - two pot caliper (130mm hub mount) with 15" brake disc

facelift
11.1998 - two pot caliper (160mm hub mount) with 15" brake disc
and around 2001- one pot caliper (160mm hub mount) with 15" brake disc

heh, don't know why MMC back one pot caliper again ... %)
