Hi Everyone, I am from Melbourne and recently bought a legnum VR4 with only 59000km's. Unfortunately today as I went out for a nice drive, the engine stalled and the car slowly came to a stop. I tried to crank the engine - heard the starter motor turn over very fast and that's it. Well I got the car towed home and diagnosed the fault to broken timing belt.

I understand that these engines are interference type and most probably the valves could be damaged. I will have to confirm this tommorow but out of interest, I was wondering which other mitsubishi models/engines could have the same sized/type valves? Anyone checked part numbers to compare?

As I will have to source the valves as soon as possible, any ideas where i could get them will be appreciated.

Could try Kempy's in New Zealand - perhaps a better bet than the UK?

i would check the pistons, camshaft and head before buying a set of valves
