Does anyone know where I can get hold of the oil sump plug washer only? Is there a part number? Camskill, like other places do them as a package with the oil filter but I don't need a filter.

Aaah, but yours is for the completely different 2.0 sump washer, completely unsuitable for sealing a v6 engine! /pan

Thanks for the help.
I begrudge paying main dealer prices which is why I was hoping I might have been able to get hold of one somewhere else - not because of the price but out of principle really. I'm a bit bitter because they wanted £120 for a rear tailgate light with 3 weeks to get it when I got it direct from a garage in Japan including shipping for £82 in 8 days.

Did we ever get the correct part number for a VR4 or can anyone confirm compliance witha standard 2.5 V6 sump plug washer? I don't want to wait 8 weeks for them to get one from Japan! If a I go into the local guys and ask for one for a VR4 they would have even less clue than the guys in the UK!

How different can they be? They're only a soft bit of metal designed to deform to make a nice tight seal without the bolt chewing up the sump sealing face.

Well if the inner diameter is different by a small percentage it wouldn't go over the bolt for a start. It's too late too find out it's wrong when you have no oil in the engine and a sump plug washer that doesn't fit. Amsoil is too precious to be spilling out just to change the washer again an hour later. It doesn't help that there's not a lot of car places here either so I need to get it right.

i have only ever fitted about a dozen new washers in my life and i have done literally thousands of oil changes, all i do to old copper washers is aneal them, place the washer on a large metal item (back of a vice will do) then heat it up with a butane blowtorch 'til its red hot , then let it cool naturally, this will re soften the metal so it compresses and seals as well as a new one

I wouldn't panic Lee, Mitsu use JIS/Metric bolts for everything so it'll be a standard size. To be honest this might be a good opportunity to get a copper washer that's reusable as PSB mentions rather than the poxy crush washers that mitsutwitty provide that always seem to crush-weld themselves to the sump plug thread.

I actually have a selection of copper ones so does anyone know the inner diameter and I may already have one that fits.

I don't have a vice or a blowtorch mind so it would get chucked each time anyway.

Popped into the local Mitsi dealer, after eventually explaining to them exactly what I needed I was given the item with a wave of the hand and a 'Have a nice day'. Perhaps Mitsi dealers here have that something the UK ones are missing...
