Just started coming on the last week or so. What does it mean, low pressure?

The oil is up to the full level, even just did a oil change on it on the weekend and it still comes on.

Car is idealing(cant spell well today) at 650.

Other than that is done 155 000 kms and had the 100000km sevice done at mitsi.

Any help or ideas would be sweet

Cheers

yes its for low pressure,

faulty oil pressure sensor or loose connection to it.....
its between the upper and lower power steering belt...
you will need to remove the drivers wheel and lining behind to get to it,

what oil did you use and what grade was it??

athou it could be low oil pressure...

best to either fit a oil pressure guage, or have it professionally checked.
could be the oil pump on its last legs?

yeah it may be the oil pump as well. does the light go off if you rev the engine slightly?

Used mobil one 5 50 i think. if you rev the engine up to 750 it goes off.

Under normal driving it stays off till it sits idealing for 30 to 50 sec.

i wouldnt recommend anything higher than a 40,

maybe your oils to thin or thick??

I would double check the pressure sooner rather the later as the oil warning light only comes on at a stupidly low pressure probally about 0.2bar the pump at ilde probally should be producing about 1bar from experience on other pumps.
Hopfully it is just the pump as these will see all the crap from the engine before putting it in to the filter
I will try to find engine pressure specs

Yeah, check it out. Even if you have to install a guage to do so. It might be the sender, but if it isnt, then the guage might save more damage to the motor.

Cheers,

Ben.

Had the same problem, as Gly suggested, it was : faulty oil pressure sensor or loose connection to it.....
Mine was a loose connection.

you will need one off these... it goes between your car and the oil filter

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Performance/Gauges/auction-112210554.htm

needs to be one that comes with m20x15 fitting

and an electrical oil pressure guage,
what style (look) do you want?

(just make sure you buy a new one thats electronic)
