View Full Version : front disc wont come off

doing my discs and pads on the front of my car, and the drivers side disc isnt coming off, looked through kierans guide(very good btw) and were not missing anything. it just wont come off...tryed beating it off, now it just has dints and a chunk missing from the disc....any ideas???

WD 40.... & hit it harder /pan

Could be that the disc has rust-welded itself to the hubs (in which case hit it!) or it could be that the disc has nudged forwards and wedged at an angle on the wheel studs. Try smacking the disc bell back towards the hub and try again.
I wouldn't try using heat.... You could get the wheel bearings heated up and they'll wazz out all their grease!

There should be 2 drilled and taped holes on the disc put 2 bolts in and wind them off.

tryed winding them off, were currently on a mk5 adjusting tool, and it aint having none of it, wd40 everything, will try hitting it backwards now

think were going to take the hub off. cant afford the wheel bearing going, its an expense i could do with out as im selling it

they are off....bigger hammer always works, fix everything with hammers

are you hitting then spinning the disk around and hitting the other side?
not just hitting one spot are you?

I had the same trouble with the my car driver side disk the the mecanic at the work shop took a day to get it off luky I only paid for two hours labor

I had a prob getting disks off but the threaded holes and some bolt did the trick for me, but i did feed the disk with WD40 for a coule of day before just to make sure.

yeh, if you see the disk now, its just beaten to death all the way around. got them off thow....and that annoying rattle ive had on my car for ages is now gone...
brakes are getting worse....rattles getting worse, and louder....turns out the top caliper bolt wasnt actually done up, cheers garage lol all done now, just got the bedding in period...painfull

yup i find that if hitting it isnt working you aint using a big enough hammer...learnt that one at mechanic school!
