Poxy cars. I just put a brand new Mitsubishi car battery 2 weeks ago and already its died out. AA told me its completely flat. WTF? How can it go flat in just 2 weeks??????????????????

AA advised me to take it to specialists. They say either the battery is faulty or something in the car is causing the battery to drain out when not in use but they couldnt establish what it is, no obvious things.

The battery is under 2 yr warranty but Mitsubishi say they will test it and if battery is fine they will charge £80.

What kind of a stupid japanese car has lights problems, belt problems, electric problems, battery problems etc. etc. etc.

Its useless. No wonder these are cheap. It dont make any sense why these cars have one of the poorest residual values out there when it comes to selling.

Now when I got the car it was all fine, full MSH and no previous problems so defiantely an age problem which is a suprise, youd expect better from a Japanese car.

Once this car goes, thats it. Big relief this soddy car is gone but will miss it but not too much.

Bottom line with this one Gurj is that for ages you have complain of electrical glitches on your car ( lights etc ) , I would now say that what ever the intermitant problem is now becoming more permant .

Just take the car to an auto elctrician they will charge you to look at the car but at least they should be able to trace the fault

If you have a constant drian on the battery then it will just continue to flaten your battery which will then need replacing as car batteries do not like being drianed in this manor .

Don't complain about it being a Galant issue , don't complain about it being a Mitsy isuee , it's just part of owning a car , they have issues you fix them - if you'd fixed the light issue 7-8 months ago then you may not have had this one today

i've had my V6 for 4 yrs now and its now 9 yrs and 146000 miles old , and in those 4 yrs all i have had to replace is consumable items like brake pads , suspension parts and one battery 2 yrs ago , the battery i took off was the original mitsu item so 7 yrs from one battery is pretty good going . the key to making any veichle last is proper servicing and if anything goes wrong fix it asap before it causes anymore problems . as has been said if you had fixed the problem when it first reared its head then it wouldn't have got to this situation.

The lights issue I have been having never caused any battery problems for the past 1 year or so since the problem emerged. I'm sure sure that isn't the problem and plus the light issue is only when teh car is switched off.

Taking it to a electrican is of course a good idea but problem here is they won't fix the problem, only diagnose. I perfer to have both done at the same time.

I know WRD has ceased trading, I was looking to come down this around this time, this month but obviously that option isn't there anymore. Plus not sure if WRD did ever deal with electrical faults or if they were electricans.

Diagnose is one thing but its also getting it fixed is the other concern.

Im from London so not local to many of you guys but certainly wouldn't mind the travel if WRD was still about

as has been said if you had fixed the problem when it first reared its head then it wouldn't have got to this situation.

The lights isn't the issue, thats only when engine is on. I was told something is draining the battery when the car is not in use. I never had this problem before.

What about checking the battery out first ? There is no need to take it to Mitsy to have it tested. Just pop along to a local battery supplier and explain and I'm sure they will test if for you. The last one I bought was faulty (non-Mitsy) and had to be replaced 24hrs after purchase.

man, gtz101, if you want toio know about problematic cars just have a look at aussie built fords!. i suppose the bonus of oz built fords is when you do an engine rebuid at 500km on the clock no bolts are siezed....

well, as most people know my cars have been endless problems, especially the blue one, but were gunna keep that one till it dies now. to be honest i got the point, where i had thrown loads of money at my galant to sort it out, then realised really i should of just thrown the galant out. but i spent the time money and effort in sorting out the knocks from the front suspension, the annyoying rattles from the front suspension, the annoying bouncing around from the front end, the never ending problem with what seemed like warped discs, how ever i just lived with it, but now know what the problem is with that and ive got the part from mitsi on order.....its all sorted now, apart from that bit of the braking system, should be here now....and its a really good car again, i still look out for things that annoy me, and i cant find anything there....
for what i payed for the car, and what money i spent on it, financialy its been the worse car ive owned. but now its sorted out, i cant fault it again, its a good car....i know what a right pain in the arse they can be, ive had cars older than this with less problems, got a car same age with less problems....i spent the money, on it, when i should of broken it for parts or just burnt it lol...but im glad i spent the money on it, its now a great drive, and i really dont have the heart to sell it, i want to keep it, and finally get the modifying that i wanted to do to it done, get a bodykit on it, sort out all the interior. but insurance renewal is coming up, and spending all my cash getting to go right, i cant afford insurance

but i can now sit here and go, my galant is a good car, that needs nothing doing to it now... to be honest instead of moaning about the car, get it to an auto elecy to diagnose the problem, see if you can fix it yourself, if not take it back to him to get it fixed. dont waste your time at mitsi garage they are stupidly expensive....get teh car sorted out, working, deal with the problem when it arises, none when its in full swing....i was told to sort my car out, like that, and i havnt been able to complain about it since, i cant find anything wrong with it....well apart from a few dodgy bits of paintwork

get it sorted out, and if your batterys flat flat.. and wont re charge, put a good battery next to it, put jump leads between the 2 batterys, then put your charger on teh good battery, it will kick start your flat battery, then start to accept charge into it....its great having some knowledge working with electric vehicles

On a side note do be careful when jump starting the amount of spiked ECU's that come into work that are from jump starting

swap your electrics issue for my donkydonk one

at least an auot electrician will find the problem, unlike mine where 2 mechanics can't!

I have had 3 6G Galants (two of them still in my possesion & driving) and one 8G (the "VR2"). The only true surprise-problem came years ago when my first 6G Galant had it's ECU blown. Found out years later this is a known problem so had my other 6G ECU's fixed before they died).

Ofcourse the disc-brakes problem was there on all G's, but using other brand discs sorts that well known mitsu-problem as well. That was it, apart from the normal maintanance, the occasional exhaust, springs/dampers/battery/tires, all very normal for 15-17 year old cars.

On my 8G the only problems so far were self-inflicted ones: oil leakage from the oil-sensor-connection (tighten it up problem gone) and a belt that was wearing out way to fast (something was not aligned properly when the V6 -> VR4 engine conversion was done). No biggie.

All & all: very, very reliable cars!
