Nice looking wagon and as I am really missing my saloon I am considering this. What does the membership think about a beast with 175k on the clock. How much should I be paying??

How much? Difficult to say. I think his note about the turbos is a fair and probably accurate one. Mine started like that when they went. It's only about half an hour from me, so if you want to go and check it out, let me know and I'll pop along with you!

It's in the best shape and colour too.......

I'd hope more than 2.5k. Otherwise mine would be worth fek all!! It would be worth 2.5k in pieces!! Infact, the more I think about it, the more I want to say SHADDUP STEVE!!

The biggest thing against it is the turbo smoke. But for a few hundred quid and a day or two's DIY, that could be sorted.

We'll see then. I'm not saying these cars are scrap at such high mileage, just that generally speaking peoples perception is that cars with high mileage are not worth alot. Yours is a different kettle of fish as it's alot newer than the miles suggest under the bonnet.

A 1.8 mondeo with high mileage is not worth a lot. Working or in bits. A VR4 is not quite the same thing? Especially a UK from new facelift. If the car looks as good in the flesh as it does on the ebay photos, it is in very good condition. I still think £2.5k is a bit on the low side! /pan

Given my DIY skills aren't upto replacing a pair of turbos...............

I hope I could source some from Mo and perhaps bribe some of the more capable here to give me a hand..............?

I'll probably bid upto £3k - Can't actually get to see it myself but feel like taking a gamble.

Depends if your buying or selling though doesn't it. If it was just a high miler (sp?) then yes, you'd expect to see prolly another £1000, but with iffy turbo's it's got to dent the value. How much would it cost for a pair of recon or known used turbos and then pay for someone else to fit them? I bet it's getting on for £800 - £1000 all in.

Also, factor in a new rear wheel bearing and two new tyres too. £4000 if it was good, - £800 for turbos & £300 for tyres & wheel bearing makes £2900. First offer should be £2500 with £500 extra in your pocket for the bartering process.

To us, no. To joe public buyer, no as well - the Mondeo's a safer bet!

I agree with Steve I'm afraid. Unless you pitch to sell to an enthusiast, VR-4s just ain't worth that much, their anonymity is a double edged sword.

I agree with Steve and Kieran - VR4's are cheap and high mileage ones need to be give away prices.

I was thinking of selling mine recently (under 100k miles) and TBH its worth more to me than passing it on.

Can't check the one on ebay (I assume its a face lift jobbie), but I see there is a pre one on autotrader for £3k with only 100k miles and 12 months MoT - I know which one I would spend £3k on

Yes, it is a facelift jobbie. And despite the mileage and the possibility of needing new turbos it looks like it could be a bargain ...

I agree with Steve too ... I would be surprised if it makes more than 2.5k on eBay.

On such a high mileage car, with a full service history, it would be *really* interesting to know what parts have been replaced, and how often.

It would be good news for all of us if it's short list (+ consumables - oils, filters, brakepads, maybe springs/dampers/bushes...)

After all, it's been visiting a dealership every 10 weeks, for 7 years. :speechles

£2K is safe money for it considering UK (Ralliart) cars with FSH and under 60K have been known to change hands for £5K - £6.5K......

Got to agree with the £2.5k to £3k estimates too I'm afraid.
