My 2001 Galant V6 Sport Auto has generated a very lumpy idle and has illuminated the engine management light. The codes it is logging are P0302 Misfire No. 2 Cylinder, P0302+ Misfire No. 2 Cylinder and P0403 EGR System Fault. I have had the codes cleared but after a few miles or a few stops and starts of the engine the codes are logged again. The AA man thought it may be a coil pack starting to go down or a lead break down?
Any helpful suggestions would be greatfully received as it's starting to give me motion sickness when I'm standing still!!!!!

Yeah, sounds like a coil pack is on the way out. Can't remember what my GLS was like, but I think the coils can be swapped - might be an idea and then see if the fault re-appears on the 'other' coil instead?

Where's a good and more importantly, cheap place to get a coil pack from?
The V6 is the only engine in the galant to have a single coil. If you have an ignition problem only on a single cylinder, it suggests lead, plug or distributor I would have thought?

Is that right Isaac? I never knew! The VR4 has three - looking after two cylinders each. I never imagined the V6 was different.

Ah, bugger! Sorry for the confusion, I thought I read he had a 2 Litre sport (meaning a GLS engine). DOH! /duh

Ah OK, that helps. Any idea which cylinder is reffered to as No. 2 by the OBD system?

Strangely enough:
2.5 N/A V6: 1 coil
2.0 N/A 4cyl: 2 coils
2.5 TT V6: 3 coils
2.4 GDI: 4 coils
I guess they couldn't figure out how to get 5 in...

I'm betting No. 2 cylinder knowing my luck is going to be one of the ones on the back bank and under the intake plenum??

I can't remember which way round it is.... I think the order is (as you look at the engine from the front of the car):
1 3 5
2 4 6
However it could also be
1 2 3
4 5 6
Might be worth checking the easy one first, just incase?
