Will get around to assembling it this weekend hopefully and will make a step by step guide to making a 260kmh + 9000rpm dash with AYC

yeah it was, but I really want my VR-4 to be 100% unique!

It's also worth pointing out that this dash is from a 2004 NZ New Spec galant, which has little lights for the rear fogs, cruise (and the knob icon just below it) a water spray icon thing at the bottom right, as well as a strange oil type symbol - yet the oil warning light is just to the right of that one.

Ohh and it has tcl + ASC, yet only VR-4's had ASC?????? I understand various 2wd Galants had traction control, so that explains the tcl, but not the ASC

brad, could you stick them up to window and take a pic so we can see all the icons? :D

the original 6mp picture shows them all on the 260kmh speedo clearly

cruise (and the knob icon just below it)

That indicates that you've got a tow bar hooked up.

a water spray icon thing at the bottom right,

Windscreen washer fluid level warning light.

as well as a strange oil type symbol

This is an oil level warning.

Where are you seeing that, Brad? I can only see the standard TCL OFF light and the skiddy car that tells you when it's kicked in.:inquisiti

K - about the towbar, seriously? It looked slightly phallic to me, makes sense now :)

I'm surprised that they incorporated oil level and washer fluid levels in later model cars, but not VR-4's.

As for the ASC, I was referring to the skiddy car that tells you ASC has kicked in, I didn't realise that the ASC light would also double as a TCL light

That skiddy car thingy is the TCL in action light... what makes you think it has anything to do with ASC.

if I swing the car from side to side on a gravel road or grass, without any throttle application, the skiddy light comes on, and you can feel the brakes kicking in to hold the car straight

the V6 models got it , oh and headlight washers and cruise control :D

The skidy car shows both. With TCL on, huffing it around an island with scant grip make it come on and you feel the engine being pegged back.

I didn't realise it also showed ASC intervention untill I was on track at Castle Combe - I came out of one corner with a little too much speed on, all 3 AYC bars lit up and major pushing wide - As the car steered in, I felt it go all loose and that's when I saw the little skiddy car flash, even though I'd switched TCL off.

Seems that TCL on the car is quick to intervene, whereas the ASC system only dives in when you're REALLY in trouble!

yep, sounds like the perfect situation for it to happen.

Will be interested to see how this goes... What I'd like to do with mine is black out the solid white rim around the dials - just leave the pip marks, more like the non-EL dash:

I think that, in combination with the EL lighting and the nicer font of the EL dash would work out quite nicely.
