Is there anything out there that can clean up alloys that have had surface corrosion, diy?

Im not on about removing cracks, dents etc. but getting rid of the peel and possibly a nice shine again

something abrasive and strong

OR

has anyone had success painting theirs, with the tyres on??

If you have a clear coat over the alloy you will have to remove this first witha wire brush attachment on a grinder or drill. Then use a cutting compound like T-Cut this should get rid of the corrosion on the surface of the alloy. If you want to put the time in you can get a mirror finish then put a few clear coats on to protect the shine.

Hope this helps.

i recall using chrome paste on an old bmx to bring up crusty metal, something like that out for alloy

Will the wire brush not scratch the alloy?
