in order to get even closer to my windscreen i have now fitted an Evo master cyl to the v6 , i have never felt 100% happy with the pedal feel since fitting the vr4 callipers and discs even though the v6 and vr4 share the same master cyl , well what can i say apart from its this years must have mod , to get the abs chirping like a budgie on speed i only need to push the pedal about an inch or so , and there is no spongeyness at all , i can honestly say this mod is worth doing to any vr4 / v6

So... would you say that you could out-brake anybody now?

Is the Evo M/Cyl much bigger than the standard one then?

stock is 1"

evo is 1 and 1/16" (some come with 1" depends on what options it had)

the size is cast into the bottom of the master cylinder, 1" on the vr4s, and 17/16" on the big evo ones

i was looking into this when i had brembs on my ST,

as gly says its 1/16" bigger than standard , but the difference it makes is incredable :afro:

It is 12.9% larger in surface area though :)

Is it a direct replacement for the original, or does it require new pipe work, linkages etc?
What sort of mullah for an Evo master cyl??

Yokel boy had it off me. I think I bought it off MLR originally with booster, some lines and power steering stuff for £50. Worth keeping an eye open over there as they're always breaking cars, and no-body wants the leftover bits like master cylinders.

the only thing i have found is that you need to apply a bit more pedal pressure to start slowing down , but in order to stop the effort isn't much different apart from the fact you only need to push it about an inch, the feel is greatly improved as well

Just wondering, which version of the EVO master cyl can be swapped into the VR4(facelift)?

evo 5/6/7/8/9 i think are all the same , basically if it came with brembo's then the master cyl should be the bigger one and it should drop straight on

And in the facelift non-VR4 galant?

I don't think there's a difference in the pre/post facelift non-VR-4 Galants - Certainly most of the V6-24s had the same size brakes through production. It was only the early (Pre 1998 I think) V6-24s that got the GLS-sized 256mm Calipers (and therefore potentially a smaller master cylinder), so I wouldn't worry about it.:scholar:

mine originally came with the piddly discs and single pot calipers , and that had the 1" master cyl

its only the evo 5/6 cyclinders that fit 100%, but not all are 17/16 size, it depends if the evo was a RS or was optioned with or without ABS.

the 7/8/9 are different... not so different you couldnt make it work.
wiring for the fluid level needs to be adapted. and the factory lines may need abit of tweaking.

and all the 8G's have 1" master cylinders,

its the brakes boosters that vary in size, and also the brake proportioning valve.
