Ok... I'm going to extend this question.

How many different bonnets are there?

Is the VR4 prefacelift the same as UK prefacelifts? Is the post facelift VR4 the same as post facelift uk cars?

I've noticed that my (post facelift, non sport) new car's bonnet is noticeably taller at the base of the windscreen than the old one (pre facelift) was. It also seems to suffer more wind noise - I don't know if that's down to the bonnet, or the significantly lower tyre roar making the wind noise more noticeable?

Isaac, yep you will have the facelift bonnet. Not too sure about the wind noise comment at all, I find the wing mirrors make the most wind noise.

Talking about noise, I have a feeling that my GLX is less noisier than my other 2 V6's (Sport and Elegance). I was thinking it was the tyres, but after reading your post, I am thinking now its the bonnet, please someone tell me that I am wrong - not the bonnet!

I really feel a difference between the V6's and the GLX, somehow the latter is less noisy on the motorways and also suspension wise its much softer.

maybe wind the windows up a bit more? lol

nah the only wind noise i get is usually from something not shut/closed properly (ie. windows, doors)

Isaac if yours is a facelift, how come it has the pre-facelift front bumper? Or did that come later on after the revised bonnet on some models?
I know i've seen X & Y regs with the old style front bumper, but i've actually noticed the bonnet style.

Paul - at the first UK facelift, only the sport models got the 'facelift' bumper. There are a few different looks to bumpers if you have a look around. At the second UK facelift, I think all models got the facelift bumper.

Zaid - I would imagine that the tyres made more of a difference than the bonnet. It seems funny that an extra inch on the bonnet height would make any difference to the wind noise?

I may be wrong, but I think the reason Gowf started this thread may be interesting to you.

The green is pre-facelift UK. The red is post-facelift UK, non-sport.

Paul - mine is post facelift.

No, yours is a VR4 - the VR4s had different bumpers again - yours should have the same bonnet as the green one though.

There is little difference - what it comes down to is that the creases that run from the grille to the A pillars are more pronounced on the facelift bonnet, and the back edge of the facelift bonnet sits about 1/2" higher in between the creases.
