Can anyone recommend an aftermarket exhaust system without the price tag?

Dont want anything TOO ott as i like the smoothness of the car as it it. but you can tell by listening to it that the exhaust that is on must be VERY restrictive.

thanking you muchly

I actually quite like the sound of the stock system, it just needs to be a bit louder :)

I wouldnt notice as the mp3 is always on and the tyre noise is louder than the exhaust.

i've just put the blueflame exhaust from camskill on mine. It's noisier than the stock one but it's not overly loud. Fitting was dead easy, but the exit pipe for it could do with being a bit longer and slightly to the right as at the moment the exit rests against the left side of the bumper trim so will have to move it over slightly somehow.

Is that a cat back system or rear box only. Pics ??

the original i found the exhaust was exactly the same
I did put the length down to my bumper
mine does need adjusting again as it was disturbed when the cat was fitted removed for MOT

i adjusted mine with washers on the hanger and bending the hanger to change where it hung

Yep it's cat back exhaust same as stuartturbos. The exhaust is perhaps an inch short of the rear bumper, will put up some pictures when it's light.
Did you just bend the hangars with some pliers or do you need to do anything special with them?

ive got a custom made one, quiet for normal plodding along, gets deep and throaty for when your booting it, but it isnt massively loud, and then after the cams kick into life its just engine noise.

if your making it yourself, i recomend the rear system of a transit, straight through box on it, perfect diameter fit on the old pipe. has enough bends in it to get it to sit level and straight out of the back, and it just sounds so good. i just cut the flang of the old exhaust box and welded it onto the new pipe i made up from the transit system, then bolted it up, utilising the old hangers.
just needs a decat now,
heresa pic of it on the car now, you cant really see it that well, but it does actually fit closer than it shows in that one picture.

held the back box hanger( where it's welded to the box) in a vice and hit and bent it with a hammer, some heat would have mad it easier but brute force seemed to work /lol

Pitslayer - good advice for other V6-24 owners maybe, but not necessarily so for a VR4 owner. The exhaust is not only designed for nearly double the power, but it also takes a completely different route up the car.

hehe I like the 'hit it really hard with a hammer' approach. It's the one area of DIY I specialise in :D

....silver thank you very much, sorry but i wouldnt lower myself to own a blue a trigger mauve car, there not cool. silver is cool, like a mk1 escort with a 500bhp cossie conversion in it, trigger mauve is like mk6 escort diesel estate in OAP blue. and as for blue galants, well there cool like a mk4 popular plus escort see what im getting at here. non silver galants just arent cool.

/pan /pan /pan hehehe lol. sorry but i think you will find silver is the best colour, your all deluded your minds are wrong, you should be put in a straightjacket for liking trigger mauve and put in with all the crazy people....now if you dont mind im going back to my game of poker, the leprechaun has just folded and the easter bunny is all in, but ive got my eye on that squirrel thow, hopefully they cant be my pair of aces and a pair of kings....well if i do loose, brad im sorry but i put your car in the bet pot, was running low on cash......

/pan haha
