Well all started out ok, I was off upto Burton to pick up my better half and my daughter.

Got on the M25 round 7.20 due to join the M40 7.35 off down the slip road not hammering it actually very steady around 60, then somthing at the front or rear I am still not sure, decided to let go OOooooo Noooooooo

I stear into the skid as the back end flips out I catch it for a second and straightern up.... then it goes again.
I am now sliding at 60 ish back wards into armco barrier on the hard shoulder....
I hit said barrier and bounce off do a 360 and again sliding back wards and take out my side rear panel, cluster and axel, the wheel held on only by on with tie rods and anti roll bar...
In the mean time my front wheel inc hub caliper etc scatters off across the M40 to land on the white lines between two lanes...

I get out and call 999 40 mins later nothing nobody luckly a passing riot van / meat wagon spots me and stops to help inc 7 officers

and the fun went on from there, check out the pic's of what happend to my missus car. I think I am in the bad books for a bit... I need to find out which bit let go be it a wish bone front tie rod or track rod end etc. I belive it was at the front end my side as after the first 360 the wheel was off and away....

I need to know for my own peice of mind its like a very large mangled jigsaw puzzle espcially when all the damage is on the opposite side of the car to the barrier I hit luckly I did not pick up any passing cars vans or worse lorrys ,it was all kept to the side out the way................

The assesor is due next week, from ins it did how ever cost me 279.65 to get OnTime to get me back to twickenham as the AA would not pick me up on my card even though I had recovery. They want 105 on the spot ie down the phone to send out a van/truck before they decided if they needed "specialist recovery equipment " In the mean time the officer had called for there prefered recovery "OnTime" so I have had a bit of a costly day and my missus n daughter are still stuck up in burton..............

Ive had new rear tyers but they are still attached ...

I wonder If they jacked up the wrong bit of metal work at the back ie a control arm or some thing else? which did'nt show at pootling round town speeds and appeared on the long sweeping slip road

I just dont know at the Mo

luckly fully insured and named on my missus policy to drive, so should be not to many probs there.. I hope

Just Mr highways man chasing me for three up stands to his armco the rest was undamaged just blue scuff marks..........

Good lord - Nasty! Very glad you're okay. That Lexus looks pretty badly beat up! Is there any way the assesor can prove if it was mechanical failure that caused it?

I dont know ? its not just a case of one damaged bit most of the drivers side front and rear got a beating...... They will be out to get me because there is no other party to claim off / blame.... as no one pushed me shunted me etc

the Ins is protected fully comp and I am named and fully comp so they will all get there money but its what goes on paper ... I am concerned it will go down just simply as driver error when I know its not.

I've sat totting up how many times i've been down there over the years in differnent weather condition etc and its well over 200 + times in the past five years... alone.... it still leaves doubt in your mind...... but somthing deffo went as I had the wheel steady as i crused round the corner the was no traffic and nothing in the road...........the weather was bright sunny and clear at the time

I have to wait and see, its given somthing for my neighbours to talk about as its outside on my driveway

Thanks Guys for you replys

When I told Jacki (my better half) and she knew I was ok, her reply was "can I have a black one now" LOL

So she was pritty chilled about it.
I am just so glad neither of them were in it at the time. I would rather have me go through stuff like that than them

S'alright, those socketed ones are much easier to replace. ;)

Good to hear you walked away. Cars (and barriers) are much easier to replace.

I am sad to see it go but I am glad it wasnt the VR it took me 6 years too find on and off and trhe IS only took 4 months............... LOL

Lex cost more though

Ideally I cross a VR4 with a Lexus IS and with the speed accel and luxury It would be somthing else

yeah I'd definitely sacrifice anything to keep the VR-4 in good shape.

It definitely sounds like a bit of a freak accident and that mechanical failure was to blame. Just make sure you sue toyota for a few million :)

Sorry to hear your bad news, Its horrible being in any kind of accident. As you said tho, you're lucky there was no trucks on the road.

Did you sustain any injuries?

what even family members? personally i wouldn't give a **** what got smashed up (even a DB9 ) as long as my family walked away from it unhurt . at the end of the day thats what insurance is for, its only a car

Tiz true....!!!!!

Family first thats the most important...... and for the cars we all pay a fortune for Insurance and our cars are replaceable

That reminds me I left lifesure for Tet Hamilton this year

My renewal was 628 I rang round and got 540 they matched it, and then I did a "Pay now this is a one time price" with Tet for 500 notes....

But not until the paper work arrived after did I see "No Courtesy car" which was dropped
Bummer!!! The rest is the same so for 500 I am happy.......

For now:inquisiti soon as the other claim is sorted I have to give Tet the rest of the details about that.... then i'll see how good they are ???

I dont know how it will affect mine i am sure it will go up but I am fully comp named and protected on my misses policy so we will see:5shots:
