What would you pay for 2 2nd hand turbos?

When i changed to leads on the car i noticed the back one was starting to leak oil so thought i would buy a 2 second hand ones before i really need them.

They are for my 1999 vr4 thats done about 160,000km

i wouldnt watse time/money on second hand ones...
unless you get them dirt cheap.

for the money you spend your better off reconditioning your old ones, so they will be good as new,

you take a chance on 2nd hand turbos, they may have only done 100000kms,
but it might have been a hard 100000kms. so may not be any better than your ones...

my car when i bought it had a little over 100km on it, and its got some oil build up in the turbo pipes,
nothing to worry about IMO. unless its soaked and running out the pipes.

The main problem with reconing my ones is that the car will be off the road for awhile, as i use it for work and carry tools ladder and 3 people around i cant have it off the road during the week.

even with 2nd hand ones its a good days work,
and then theres no guarantee they will be any better.

unless you get them for next to nothing, 200-300 MAX!
and rebuild them i wouldnt bother,
a rebuild will be around 3-400 each again.

On almost all VR-4's there is some oil in the back turbo pipe, don't worry about it.
