Hi all, fitted my innovate 02 sensora couple of weeks ago. I have decided that I want a gauge to monitor AFR full time. Thing is though they seem to be very expensive for what is basically a 0 to 5v voltmeter. Am I missing something or will a normal 5v meter do the job ?
Cheers  :inquisiti

Yes, you can do it with a normal 5V meter. It will tell you the voltage, which can be setup to have a linear relationship with AFR/Lambda but it wont tell you the actual AFR. So while it WOULD work, you would have to constantly be doing the conversion in your head :)

Thanks Kenneth, I'll get a gauge and modify/paint the scale to read where I want, probably just paint a green area for where I want the afr to be.

or you could build a simple digital device to convert for you :)

very easy

isnt it the wide band lambda sensor thats normally the expensive bit, which you would need anyway.

Yea, the sensor & control cable is the expensive part. Just that a lot of aftermarket gauges are not very accurate so the good ones are quite expensive.

Can you tell me how ?

You can get a replacement sensor for $79 US.

The biggest problem is that you cant run the wide band sensor without a control circuit... which makes the total cost more. :(

Still, considering how useful wide band is, it isn't excessively expensive to get a basic unit.

i have this one which i found to be a very good sensor, and the guage is only 3/4'' deep.

just depends how much you're willing to spend. cant wait to buy a car now and get it hooked back up.
