were the pistons and rods off the shelf items or custom?

custom and designed to go together so you cant mix and match, once the car is up and and running and Im happy with them I will sell them thoughmy shop.

So higher compression ratio or larger bore/stroke or something?

only .5 mm oversized pistons, but thicker decks (crowns) moved the gudgeon pin and slightly different length rods.

LONGER RODS, I.E.... STROKED ???

no, longer rods, shorter pistons, overall same displacement. (Except the 0.5mm overbore)

We need lots and lots of pictures to drool over.

Good luck with the rebuild.

Did you do the 0.5mm overbore to take out any imperfections or oval shapes in the cylinders?

I was thinking a 1.5mm overbore would be quite nice, that would take the engine up to 2591cc, but I'm worried that will make the cylinder walls too small.

Those rods looks pretty strong compared with the standards ... :pimp2:

Good luck with the rebuild.

Ummm. And what is the price of the rods and pistons ???
I was just thinking of that kind of rebuild concerning to use the GT35R :) We have some places here in Moscow that can manufacture the pistons and rods, but their pistons (which is cheap enough) have big thermal expansion :(

The block was slightly scored, and if your going forged you normally always go slightly oversized and get the block honed to the pistons. I have a spare (damaged) block so I may see how far it can be bored out to.

the stock rods are about as big as a little finger....

What power output did you kill the old rods at?

You putting this crate together yourself Rich or are you getting an engine builder to do it?

not sure it was dyno'd at 287 at the wheels on 0.8 bar, I upped the boost to 1.2bar and had 100bhp nos.

Ive got the week off work to do as much as I can, but mainly Im stripping and cleaning the old engine parts ready to go on the new one whilst Nick@NR Autosport is rebuilding the new one, but from that Ive seen so far its not difficult. We need to built it, check all the clearances, strip it back down and rebuild it again.

287 bhp (211kw) at the hubs (from a chassis dyno).

"RB-Perfomance light weight crank" - what's that? Stock crank balanced and stripped of some weight? What bearings (rods, crank) are you going to put in there? ... and of course - how much? :)

I think he is just referring to the crank pulley :)

yeah just the pulley

Well the engine is in, but as per usual we have decided to take it a little bit further, stripped the ABS, redoing all the power steering pipe work, replacing most of the pipes in the engine bay with braided and getting new downpipes made up, swapping the intake to the other side, redoing all the wiring... so this may take a few weeks longer than we originally thought.
