Took the car for a short drive yesterday, and the engine came on. Everything appeared to be ok. I thought...'oh no, not another O2 sensor' gone.

Then I gave it a good beating on the motorway and the engine light disappeared.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

I've got a Rover with a Honda D16 engine that does this in reverse, if you drive it above 4000rpm for any length of time (IE, 70+) then the engine light comes on until you restart the engine, then it goes out again. According to the code on there its a dodgy sensor (can't remember which) and I'd imagine its probably the same on yours. Not sure if the Galants have the same sort of system as the D16, but on that one if you look at the ecu (its conveniently in the footwell on the Rovers) it has an LED that flashes out the fault code.

That sounds like something 'emmisions control' related, but if you pull the codes from the ecu it will tell you.

Cheers,

Ben.
