Take a look here first http://www.clubvr4.com/index.php?page=BuyersGuide

as always, good service history is advisable. Check that the AYC works properly - drive quire slowly in a straight line and then quickly steer to left or right and straighten up, you should see the AYC lights come on on the dash.

If its a tiptronic gearbox, drive at about 40mph in 5th and then gently accelerate, make sure it does not shudder. Also make sure that it doesn't shudder between gear changes especially 4th to 5th.

Other than that, all the usual car checks are appropriate.

Let us know where you are thinking of buying from, someone may know the car or the dealer.

Oh and welcome to the club /Welcome

Im sure there are some members in that area who may be able to help with checking the car out. Bath is quite a journey to Kent!

I'm hoping to see it this weekend as it's a lovely looking car. Looks like there's gonna be a race like Miller and GGG had ;) /rally

Oh and welcome to the club /WelcomeTAR, MAY BE A SILLY QUESTION BUT, the ayc lights, do you mean the red ones or the white ones????

The green ones! There is a stack of 3 green horizontal bars at the bottom of the revcounter and they light up when the AYC kicks in. The more AYC intervention, the more bars light up.

Have you bought it as it's no longer listed on Autotrader. Was going to call for a viewing but the ad has gone. Hope it went to another club member as it looked like a beauty.

Have you seen it yourself yet? It looked great in the pics and I recon it's a good car. I have one other car I'm trying to sort but if that falls through my repeat VR4 ownership will go out of the window and I'll buy a brnd new Focus ST in Germany.
