I finally got round to getting my exhaust sorted. Got it done at a Powerflow dealer near Wigan and have had the full system done - downpipes, sports cat and cat-back.

Downpipes and cat are still 2.25 inch, cat back is 2.5. Sports cat is a Wolfrace cat so it matches my wheels

Can't really comment on gains yet as I've only driven in Friday rush-hour traffic and my boost controller settings are now completely rodgered. The sound is really addictive though (will record it on my phone and post it later).

£600 plus VAT which seems pretty good to me for a full system

That looks really good - the tip keeps a bit of a "stealth" look.

What made you choose 2.25/2.5" over 2.5/3.0" ?

cheers

Nice one Ade. That Wolfrace cat looks very compact. Is it 100 or 200 cpi?

I didn't go for the 2.5/3.0 option to try to keep the noise down - it's loud enough for me with 2.25/2.5. There was also some debate on the 2.5 or 3.0 cat-back option here (http://clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26055) and here (http://clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24680). At the end of the day the down-pipes are at least flowing in the same direction and the cat is less restrictive, which together with an increase from 2.25 to 2.5 cat-back the whole system should flow much better.

The Wolfrace cat is 200 cell (although they do a 100 cell version too)

There's only 1 resonator in at the mo, but after driving it home yesterday I think it may need to go back and have another one put in. I wasn't originally going for a round tail-pipe but they couldn't find the oval one I'd chosen previously. I liked the "double-skin" appearance of the one I've had fitted, and it isn't too in-your-face size-wise.

Sorry not exhaust related but....

Doesn't your car have any underseal?

Next on the to-do-list! Could have had it done at the same time as the zorst but it had rained the day before and there was still some damp areas underneath

£600 for a turbo back system, including a sports cat is a bargain - for comparrison, whilst I can't remember exact prices, my "off the shelf" system comprises Blitz Realize-TT system was £480ish shipped from Japan, the downpipes £300 (Japan again) and the sports cat £240ish from TSL motorsport. I've also got to weld a 3" flange to the blitz system so that it matches the cat- the TSL unit is designed for rally-spec EVOs and uses a 3" flange. Grand total of £1020 plus my time and a new flange and welding to make it all fit - and it's taken a year to complete (due to the cost!).

One comment I do have is that the cat looks small - mind you it's a 200 cell. Mine looks bigger compared to your pictures, but it's a 100 cell unit.

The fact that you need to re-program your boost controller is a good sign, shows that the exhaust is flowing differently to before - and it could hardly be any worse than the standard setup!

The electronic boost controller is hitting target boost then falling off - I need to tweak the gain. I turned the EBC off and opened up the manual BC today. Holds a very stable 12psi no probs at all and the car definitely feels quicker.

The noise of the system is certainly attracting the attention of the unsuspecting public - the car is turning a lot more heads. I thought it would drone on the motorway but it's fine, it's just very loud in stop-start driving. I love the burble on tickover from inside the cabin. Vicky hasn't been in it yet so I'm waiting for the complaints about the noise when she does...

Looking good

Good price too. My cat back system was done at Longlife in Basingstoke and that cost me £349 so to get the whole lot done inc. cat and downpipes for £700 is a very good price.

I paid about £305 for new standard downpipes from Mitsi ...
