looks good :D

your car can't be a 99 though, what is it's chassis number?

What make you think that?

ec5a-0000111

Paper works shows first registered overseas is 1999
First registered in NZ 2005
Got any proof of other wise, that would be nice.

definitely a 1996 then! You have the 111th VR-4 ever made, plus prefacelift grill, bumper, bonnet, and tail lights

Are you shore?
Is there a way you can find that infomation out?

Cause I traded a 96 surf for this and I would feel a little ripped off if I traded to something that is the year.

manufactured 1/7/96 according to mitsubishi caps,

the problem is it was made in 96, but was not sold till 99,
meaning it stode in a yard somewhere for the first 3 years of its life.

so when it was bought it got registered as a 99...
but its really a 96 prefacelift.

same as my 98 ST, was made in 96, but not sold till 98

I was gonna fire up caps, but I'm in vista at the moment and it doesn't work in vista!

Anyway Carsten is right, it was definitely made in 96 and one of the very first Galant VR-4's made,

yeah its a prefacelift all right. it prob was a demo for a car yard in japan or something before it was sold, therfore first registered in 99

It was not necessary stood up or a demo car. Your paperwork says "first registered overseas is 1999" so that's the clue. My log book shows date of registration as 2002 and that's just because mine was first registered in the UK in 2002 when it was imported. Mine is a 1997 car (well actually very late '96 according to CAPS, but don't tell anyone!)

yep mine is the same built in 1996 but 1st registed in 2002 in the uk any way the eye lids look good and the prefacelift are the best

check the dealers window card which should have been given to you,to confirm what year it was sold to you as. if sold as 99 i feel some questions should be asked.

Yer Thomo I am It's in front of me right now.
Vehicle year* = 1999 - so how is that a clue White Lightning? They have all the paper work Jap dereg papers all the information is on that document.
Year first registered overseas = 1999
Year first registered in NZ = 2005

Big difference from a 99 to a 96.

they look good, first time i've actually liked them! as i thought eyelids were parallel along the long edge and just made the light 'smaller', but now i see they aren't and they give it a real mean eye look... it looks way better. might have to get me some.

and i agree pre-facelift is the best looking :pimp2:

How long ago did you buy it? I would suggest giving the chassis number to mitsi NZ and asking them to give you a letter saying it's manufacturing date, then take it to the car yard and demand some money back or a new VR-4

Gly
17-09-2007, 09:13 AM
theres no question,

it was first registered over seas in 1999 but that does'nt mean the car was built in 1999.

legally you can call it a 99 vr4, and so can the dealer.

technically its a 96 vr4,

its a bit like going and buying a new car here, it may be the last years model,
ie its a 2005 ford, but if it isnt sold until 2007, it will get registered as a 2007 even thou its a 2005.
because that when it was first registered,

chassis numbers dont lie unless they have been altered,
its a 96 prefacelift, first registered in 99.

yeah its pretty wrong if they sold the car saying its a 99 and clearly isnt... problem is tho the sales yard will just play stupid coz at the end of the day....they wouldnt have a clue what it is!

They state that the Vehicle Year is 1999.

I brought it about 4-5 months ago.
What would it be worth is my next question?

Its done 80000 km

bradc
18-09-2007, 06:43 AM
If it is a tiptronic with ~100,000km's on it then I would say $8k from a dealer

who knows, toss of the dice, brad got 4,300 for a real tidy 1997 legnumvr4 last week.i guess it,s what the market will handle.

bradc
18-09-2007, 06:52 AM
yeah but I put it up at $1 Res, and Legnums are more common than Galants. If I had kept it up there at $6k for a while I think I would have probably sold it.

yeah, being a galant they are quite hard to come by... you know how long it took me to get a white manual with a sunroof?!?!

No need to miss out, see this post by woodeye, the guy who makes them here in New Zealand.

yep no problems I can send them to you.

I am sending two sets to ( Wouter ) this week.

He is paying via PayPal.

I went to the post office and it looks like it would be around $15.00 NZD to send
across the other side of the world.

Let us know.

I have also P.M this to you.

EC5A = sedan 2.5l 4wd, and 429 means it is the 429th 8G car made, ie in the first few months of production.
