I phoned up the company that I use for the Legnums, my ST-R is $620 a year and my VR-4 is $12xx or something a year, I told them it was the only one of two in the country and as such I was hesitant to put a value on it, but once it gets here it will have cost me just over $40k. The lady said not a problem I will put that in for you...and she came back with a figure of $1220, which really surprised me, I thought it would be more like $3000 or more.

And yes, I'm still on my restricted!

That's sweet! You should hit them up for a discount on the VR4's lol

the number of cars you have Brad, im sure you'd be cheaper getting fleet insurance or some sort of bulk purchase discount!!!

Result on the insurance for the beemer though, sounds resonable!

The 840's and 850's look the same, the only model with a different body kit is the 850CSi :)

I do have a 65% no claims bonus with them, so I guess that helps somewhat :)

would be cheaper if you were on your full i bet? but as soons as you get it (your full) then you could always go back to them and no doubt they will drop the price a lil bit.

you go from Learners to Restricted to Full, I've been on my restricted since October 2000, probably time to go to my Full :)

You sir are quite obviously blind, bugger off and don't come back until you've acquired some taste.

Jeesh, you manage to find the 'almost' rareist most bestest and great 8 series and some joker, who thinks silver is a good colour says it's not as good as a boggo run of the mill 8bloody40 /pan

How old are you Brad? Im sure you posted somewhere that you were under 25, in which case I don't think getting your full will help much. Much better to get older fast.

doesnt matter... it will be cheaper than what you pay when your on your restricted anyway. so any discount is a bonus.

all depends on who your are insured with?

Yeah, works something like this.

1. Learners: Theory test (20min)
2. Restricted: Practical Test (30min)
3. Full: Practical/Theory on practical (30min - 60min)

Even if you under 25 and on your full the amount you pay stays the same only your excess comes down. They might offer you a deal on the no claims bonus etc

like this: under 25 $1000 excess
under 25 on full $750 excess
over 25 on full $ 500 excess
and that should keep dropping every year.

Hasn't the tests changed in the last couple of years? I thought the full was practical only now.

I thought the full was practical only now.

It pretty much is, the supervisor /rally asks you questions while you drive.

Asking you about obstacles and what the speed limit is around the area your driving etc...

Once you turn 25 they should lower the premiums though - I was 24 when I got my VR4 and when I turned 25 I had a "no under 25 drivers" clause added on my insurance which lowered the premiums by a reasonable amount.
